A bit about the role

As Commercial Director you will be responsible for acting as our Account lead in Wales and ensuring the safe and profitable delivery of a major infrastructure investment programme.

Within our Advisory & Programme Delivery (APD) Transport Unit we deliver advisory, project, programme and commercial management services to some of the most well known clients in the UK. We operate in Rail, Highways, Aviation and Maritime. Our vision is to deliver major transportation projects as part of a global business and to establish our wide-ranging consultancy as ‘credible’ and ‘preferred’ for our existing and new clients.

 

Main Duties

  • Achieve team and associated staff results by communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring and performance management, including contractors
  • Manage the interfaces between the commercial team and other functions within the business and joint ventures (including any wider Integrated Project Teams)
  • Deliver Cost / Value Reconciliation and Project Controls Reporting & Consolidation requirements
  • Ensure the project remains cash positive throughout
  • Commercial / Finance interface and control of (at a project and joint venture level), reporting, results alignment including disallowed and Fee Based costs and co-ordinate period-end process to ensure accurate and timely reporting
  • Manage and own the contractual change process to ensure revenue is appropriately recognised and recovered (overall responsibility for contract administration)
  • Procurement and management of Sub-Contract packages of work
  • Lead the risk and opportunity management process from a commercial perspective
  • Develop and manage a collaborative working relationship with the Client and key stakeholders
  • Implement and manage the project Commercial Strategy and associated Commercial Management Plan

What is expected of you as Commercial Director:

 

Essential;

  • An established and strong network in Wales is a must to contribute towards the account development
  • Previous demonstrative in-depth experience of lead commercial roles on large programmes in the rail or highways sector.
  • Member of Professional Body / Professional Commercial qualification / NEC Experience
  • In depth experience and proven record of managing commercial teams and stakeholders in similar collaborative arrangements
  • Excellent IT Skills – Word/Excel/PowerPoint
  • Strong communication skills including writing reports and presenting
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with clients, stakeholders, colleagues and the supply chain
  • Ability to demonstrate a flexible approach to work
  • Flexibility to travel to client sites and other MM offices
  • Experience on Highways scheme delivery in major projects
  • Knowledge and experience in the management of CEMAR
