About the business unit  
The Buildings and Cities Unit (BNC) has a major presence in Mott MacDonald's regional offices throughout the UK and mainland Europe, providing a wide range of diverse and transferable cross-sector skills across five key Sectors; Advisory, Built Environment, Energy, Transportation and Water. We also provide local services to customers and technical leadership to the rest of the Group in these sectors.  

 

Reporting to the Digital Healthcare Lead, the Principal Consultant will be an exceptional individual with hands-on experience in healthcare in one or more of the following:

 

  • Development of pragmatic digital strategies, aligned with clinical & organisational strategies, define the future state & articulate the steps required to achieve the future state
  • Articulation of case for change, identify the options available to achieve the digital ambitions, and outline the associated costs and benefits
  • Programme management, planning and delivery of digital-enabled transformation programmes
  • Implement change in digital context, where stakeholders are engaged and supported to embrace new technologies and digital ways of working
  • Design and development of ‘smart buildings’ combining experience delivering digital transformation projects across healthcare and infrastructure

 
The Principal Consultant role will be responsible for delivery and commercial excellence, ensuring that the project is delivered successfully to time and budget and to the standards required by the Client and for Mott MacDonald. The Principal Consultant will lead one or more client projects, with the prime aim of ensuring the projects are able to deliver a successful outcome.

 

The role will have responsibility for:

 

  • Leading the delivery of client projects by managing client relationships, developing the scope and engagement plan, managing team members, engagement financials, and overseeing the production of high-quality deliverables.
  • Working with a range of client stakeholders and being seen as a subject matter expert within client organisations and by colleagues, developing and maintaining deep industry knowledge
  • Building collaborative relationships with peers and working closely with other internal colleagues across to help clients solve complex issues.
  • Taking ownership of internal practice development by leading the definition and development of proposition, methodology and point of view development activities and knowledge capture and sharing.
  • Developing and cultivating client relationships in the market, leading new business proposals and pre-positioning activities with potential clients

 

The successful candidate must be able to possess and demonstrate the following skills and personal attributes:

 

  • Experience of working directly with one or more large providers (i.e. large hospital Trust, PCNs), as well as other health organisations (e.g. commissioning, central health bodies, private health providers).
  • Experience in digital developments and interventions in healthcare delivery, systems and hospital design
  • Strong technology, and either clinical technology or smart building technology experience, or both, including programmes relating to the implementation
  • Demonstrable experience of developing and managing senior level client and stakeholder relationships.
  • Strong analytical and project management skills with experience leading and working in multi-disciplinary teams to deliver on high-profile and complex transformation engagements within the health sector in a fast-paced project environment.
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Experience of developing junior staff and mentoring team members.
  • Experience of supporting business development opportunities, for example, developing new client relationships, writing proposals, business cases
  • Ability to think creatively, generate innovative ideas, challenge the status quo and deliver effectively to ambitious requirements.
