About the unit 

 

With extensive experience in the global defence sector, Mott MacDonald’s advisory and programme delivery teams deliver projects ranging from complex infrastructure upgrades to carbon reduction initiatives.   

 

Our experience in energy ranges from nuclear, renewables, hydro, thermal to electricity and gas, providing services to a global customer base within the energy sector, supporting the delivery of major capital projects and the transition to low-carbon generation. 

 

About us


The Advisory and Programme Delivery division (APD) delivers consultancy services to projects ranging in scale and complexity from £million’s to £20bn, through the technical disciplines of programme management, project management, project controls, scheduling, cost management, estimating, infrastructure finance, management consulting, digital consulting, education and healthcare management.

 

Overview of role 

 

What you will contribute to the team:

  • Assist in establishing and delivering project specific objectives,
  • Provide key support to the senior leaders in the delivery of commission obligations and internal project performance,
  • Contribute to open communications across the project delivery and client teams,
  • Establish effective communications across the project delivery, client and stakeholder teams,
  • Implement problem solving and decision making,
  • Adopt programme and business management systems across project teams,
  • Control the internal and external commercial aspects of project across a range of contractual arrangements,
  • Mentor less experience colleagues in the skills of project management,
  • Contribute to securing opportunities and repeat business through the high quality of service delivery,

 

 

As part of our advisory team you will be responsible for:

  • Supporting major transmission, distribution and generation developments across the UK and Ireland,
  • Providing technical tender support – Project Management and technical matters.
  • Actively assisting with business development and client management.
  • Attending client and site visits as required – UK and Ireland.
  • Working effectively on several projects concurrently to deliver to tight deadlines.
  • Support, influence and actively establish a robust project delivery team with transmission, distribution and/or generation skillsets and experience.
  • Support and mentor the career development of junior project professionals.

 

 

Essential 

  • A degree in a construction, engineering or project management subject,
  • Working towards a relevant professional qualification with RICS, CIOB, RIBA, APM or engineering discipline,
  • Good client and stakeholder relationship building skills,
  • Effective communication with client’s project team and business manager,
  • Commercially aware,
  • Willing to travel to site in Ireland 3 times per week. 

 
 

Desirable 

  • Experience across all stages of the project lifecycle.
  • Experience of Energy sector
  • HVDC or AC experience.
  • Experience of NEC contracts or similar contract arrangements.
  • Excellent IT skills particularly MS Excel/Word/Project and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to produce and review technical reports for project teams and clients, attention to detail is paramount.
