Together we provide integrated engineering and project management services across the project lifecycle – from concept and design to construction and operations, to decommissioning or repowering and life extension. Together with our clients, we’re helping to deliver the energy transition globally.

Overview of role

Owing to continued growth and high demand for our services, we are looking for an Offshore Wind Project Manager, specialised in foundations and floating platforms design, to join our global energy team in one of our offices in Europe.
Whilst specialised in foundations and floating platforms design, as Project Manager you will also lead the delivery of offshore wind consultancy projects (owner’s engineering, due diligences and lender’s technical advisory, mainly) for clients worldwide and ensure they are delivered on time, on budget and with zero errors. This includes coordination of internal MM, and external resource where needed, deliverable review and acceptance, budget and time adherence, client liaison, and internal reporting on offshore wind projects. The role will also involve the preparation of bids for new work.
In summary, as an offshore wind professional within Mott MacDonald, ideally but not necessarily focused on foundation/platforms only, you will provide technical support to a wide variety of stakeholders including developers, original equipment manufacturers, regulators and financing.

  • Bachelor's degree in Naval or Civil Engineering.
  • Working knowledge of offshore structural engineering, including comprehension of the sea environment and hydrodynamic loads, both at temporary and operational stages.
  • Deep understanding of the different foundation typologies for both bottom-fixed and floating, as well as the key drivers for the concept selection of each design solution.
  • Awareness of the interfaces between turbine and foundation/platform, including key understanding of load iteration and integrated load analysis for offshore wind.
  • Knowledge of the relevant Offshore Wind design codes and certification requirements, from DNV, IEC, ABS and other international standards.
  • First-hand knowledge of offshore structural analysis software like SACS, SESAM, DEEPLINES or similar, to perform structural design and verifications.
  • Familiarity with CAD or other modelling software
  • Command on naval basic concepts (stability, masses, etc.)

Desirable:

  • Demonstrable experience of project management of offshore wind projects or packages.
  • Excellent IT skills particularly MS Excel/Word/Project and PowerPoint.
  • Self-motivation, ability to use own initiative, flexible, problem solving approach.
  • Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary engineering environment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly & concisely in English, both verbally & written and ability to explain technical issues to non-engineers, including Clients.
  • Ability to produce and review technical reports for clients, so attention to detail is paramount.
