Overview of role


The Advisory and Programme Delivery division (APD) delivers consultancy services to projects ranging in scale and complexity from £million’s to £20bn, through the technical disciplines of programme management, project management, project controls, scheduling, cost management, estimating, infrastructure finance, management consulting, digital consulting, education and healthcare management.
 
We are looking for people who can demonstrate the following: 

  •  Take ownership of and responsibility for the successful delivery of your project
  • Leads teams of professionals delivering major projects or portfolios of smaller projects.
  • Responsible for managing senior level customer relationships.
  • Deliver complex technical projects within a highly regulated industry,
  • Preparing and maintaining schedules, including dependencies and resources,
  • Identifying and monitoring project risks and opportunities,
  • Quality management processes for project activities and outputs,
  • Managing stakeholders, taking account of their levels of influence and particular interests,
  • Establishing and maintaining project governance reviews,
  • Developing and managing teams,
  • Managing suppliers.

 
 

What you will contribute to the team;

  • Relevant project management and delivery experience;
  • Demonstrable knowledge and application of project management methodologies;
  • Strong financial awareness, commercial acumen and analytical skills
  • Comfortable working as a consultant within a client environment;
  • Relationship building skills –ability to build strong relationships with clients, teams and stakeholders as well as an ability to build and maintain networks of business contacts;
  • Strong stakeholder management experience;
  • Excellent oral and written communication and organisation skills,
  • Strong analytical thinking and research skills,
  • Well-developed planning and organisational skills and ability to continue to completion existing projects and initiatives;
  • Essential soft skills include self-motivation; taking initiative; leadership, adaptability and flexibility; effective listening, collaboration; influence and persuasion; and insightfulness,
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft applications.
  • Be responsible for the project programme. Work with multidisciplinary delivery teams to update the programme as required. 

 

 

Essential

  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject
  • APM PMQ level qualified or equivalent Member of the Association for Project Management (MAPM).
  • Proven track record of delivering projects within transmission, distribution and/or generation sector.
  • Good leadership and people management skills and an ability to build and develop high performing teams.
  • Strong financial awareness, commercial acumen and analytical skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to respond rapidly to unexpected events, and an ability to develop creative solutions to problems Well-developed planning and organisational skills and ability to continue to completion existing projects and initiatives;
  • Ability to travel regularly, depending on project, Ireland 

 

Desirable 

  • Experience across all stages of the project lifecycle.
  • Interconnection/interconnector
  • Excellent IT skills particularly MS Excel/Word/Project and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to produce and review technical reports for project teams and clients, attention to detail is paramount.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
