About the role:
The Project Director is responsible and accountable for leading a large projects (Residential, Data Centre, etc). The role will be primarily responsible for the successful delivery of the project, establishing appropriate governance and assurance, monitoring progress and managing risks. This role will also ensure the commercial success of the project.
Key responsibilities and duties are listed, but not limited to, the below:
- Lead the project by providing leadership and direction to the teams deployed, ensuring the framework and processes are implemented, and tools and resources have been provided for successful project delivery
- Lead the implementation of Mott MacDonald’s project and programme management methodology by defining the planning and execution of the projects including resources, budgets and timeframes
- Build and maintain a delivery-focused project team to help delivery of the project in with the agreed outcomes, within the time, cost and quality constraints
- Day to day management of large multi-disciplinary teams deployed on the project by providing leadership and direction ensuring success
- Accountable for all risks on the project and ensuring they are identified, prioritised, assessed and mitigated; communicate risks to senior stakeholders and enrol specialists where necessary
- Responsible for identifying success criteria and overseeing the development and implementation of project controls
- Monitor and control progress, ensuring delivery and reviews teams are fully engaged
- Ensure Mott MacDonald tools and BMS procedures, templates and processes are utilised to positively impact project plans
- Creating work environments whereby teams are effectively working together and benefits are delivered
- Ensuring all project teams are aligned to reflect any changes in the programme
Candidate Specification
- Bachelors’ Degree in Electrical Engineering or any other relevant engineering discipline; Masters’ Degree would be advantageous
- Professional memberships (such as Professional Engineer (P.E) or Chartered Engineer (C.Eng), PMP, APM) is considered mandatory; certifications such as PRINCE2 Practitioner is beneficial
- Experience in project and programme management in the UAE
- Experience of working on large Data Centres projects in region
- Knowledge of portfolio, programme and project management standards/ processes and challenges across the lifecycle.
- Ability to establish and maintain governance structures that define clear roles, responsibilities and accountabilities for governance and delivery, which align with internal practices and good project management principles.
- Knowledge and ability to identify and/or develop standard procedures and methodologies that will ensure the management of projects will be comprehensive and consistent across different projects or portfolio.
