About the role
MM are expanding our land development team in the Middle East and are looking for a motivated infrastructure design lead with extensive experience to join their growing team in the region to work across our projects.

This person will lead a team of talented engineers to technical and commercial success and will be responsible for developing and expanding the team and working with our global teams and wider disciplines such as mobility, sustainability, environment, coastal and waste.

Our offer ranges from technical due diligence, through master planning and infrastructure design to site supervision. We deliver across our global teams but our focus markets are the UAE and KSA.

Typical projects include major masterplanning and infrastructure design for many of the major developers. There is the opportunity to support major transport opportunities outside the typical land development offer. You will be expected to be client centric but commercially sound.

Key responsibilities and duties are listed, but not limited to, the below:

  • Act as, or support, Project Principal for all major infrastructure design projects
  • Lead the infrastructure design team
  • Day to day management/coordination of all design review activities, including stakeholder management, budget control and reporting
  • High degree of commercial awareness and ability to manage a budget and change control.
  • Regular liaison with client’s, PMCs, subconsultants and contractor’s and representatives for all design review activities
  • Administer the review of all design and technical submissions
  • Ensure proper controls are in place for all disciplines i.e. QA/QC, contract compliance etc.
  • Discipline progress control and reporting to Project Principal and client’s representative
  • Identify and report any changes (variations)
  • Monitor the project’s progress and the allocation of resources; initiate changes as required
  • Work with the discipline Engineers and Project Principal on resolving issues with the design
  • Identify and manage delivery of information required by the project teams and contractors from and monitor progress against agreed timelines
  • Identify risks and opportunities associated with coordination and advise the project teams regularly.
  • Ensuring the Mott MacDonald’s best practices are implemented in an effective and economic manner
  • Lead design review and report on any recommendation that can aid with delivery and the project’s financials
  • Manage a team of engineers.
  • Support in the development of our Middle East Business through active engagement with our clients and input into tendering.
  • Lead our design workshops and presentations to key clients for all utility disciplines.

 

Candidate specifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or similar relevant engineering discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer or equivalent Licensed/registered engineer with a recognized authority is preferred.
  • Relevant engineering experience in design management, commercial project management and project controls.
  • Experience in the Middle East.
  • Experience in leading design teams, project planning, technical report writing and preparation of proposals.
  • Familiarity with international design review standards and knowledge of UAE and KSA Standards.
  • Experience within a consultancy environment specifically leading and developing a team
  • Continuously looking for innovations and improvements to manage workload and accomplish deliverables across individuals, teams and projects
