Job Desciption:

 

Job purpose:

The Civil Inspector will be responsible for supervising and inspecting civil construction works. The role ensures that construction activities are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, contract requirements, applicable legislation, and Authority standards, with particular emphasis on quality, safety, and accuracy of construction data.
 
 
Key Responsibilities:
 
  • Supervise and inspect civil construction works related to pump stations, STW projects, and water-retaining structures
  • Monitor construction activities involving structural concrete works, buildings, piping installations, deep excavations, roadworks, pavements, and associated utilities
  • Ensure works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, technical specifications, method statements, and relevant standards
  • Check setting-out, dimensions, levels, and construction tolerances
  • Actively observe site safety practices and report any non-conformities related to safety and welfare
  • Attend progress meetings, technical meetings, and coordination meetings with the Authority and Project Company
  • Review construction records, inspection reports, and test results submitted by the Project Company
  • Verify and check the accuracy of construction data gathered by the Project Company through site inspections and spot checks
  • Assist in the review and verification of as-built drawings and construction documentation
  • Maintain detailed site inspection records, reports, and photographic documentation
  • Coordinate with other discipline inspectors and project stakeholders as required
  • Perform any additional inspection-related duties required by the Engineer or Authority

 

 

Candidate Specification:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/ or Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized institute to the approval of the Engineer
  • Demonstrable experience of supervision of civil construction projects of which not less than 5 years shall be in works related to similar pump station or STW projects or water retaining structures.
  • Experience should also include construction involving structural concrete, buildings, piping installations, deep excavations and pavement/ roadworks, utilities diversion/ interface etc.
  • Monitoring and inspecting the construction work and ensuring compliance with the PPPA and the Health & Safety and Welfare requirement is being carried out in compliance with the regulatory and the Authority safety and welfare requirements.
  • Attend progress and technical meetings with the Authority and the Project Company.
  • He/She shall be responsible for checking all data gathered by the Project Company and also assist in review of the As-built drawings, and for conducting spot checks of actual works for the determination of the accuracy of the data collected.
  • Must have good command of English both written and spoken;
  • Computer skills are mandatory.
