About the unit

 

With extensive experience in the global defence sector, Mott MacDonald’s advisory and programme delivery teams deliver projects ranging from complex infrastructure upgrades to carbon reduction initiatives.   

 

Our experience in energy ranges from nuclear, renewables, hydro, thermal to electricity and gas, providing services to a global customer base within the energy sector, supporting the delivery of major capital projects and the transition to low-carbon generation. 

 

 

Overview of role 

 

You’ll lead the delivery of projects across transmission, distribution, and generation for our clients across the UK and Ireland, ensuring they are delivered on time, on budget and with zero errors. This includes coordination of internal Mott MacDonald, and external resource where needed, deliverable review and acceptance, budget and time adherence, client liaison, and internal reporting. The role will also involve the preparation of bids for new work.

 

The Project Manager is ideally an engineer or other technically educated professional conversant in transmission, distribution and/or generation sector, such that in this client facing role, the Project Manager is able to guide technical discussions and make recommendations.

 

As part of our advisory team you will be responsible for:

  • Supporting major transmission, distribution and generation developments across the UK and Ireland,
  • Providing technical tender support – Project Management and technical matters.
  • Actively assisting with business development and client management.
  • Attending client and site visits as required – UK and Ireland.
  • Working effectively on several projects concurrently to deliver to tight deadlines.
  • Support, influence and actively establish a robust project delivery team with transmission, distribution and/or generation skillsets and experience.
  • Support and mentor the career development of junior project professionals.

 

 

Essential 

  • Degree level qualifications in Project Management, Engineering or similar technical subject.
  • Demonstrable experience of project management of transmission, distribution and/or generation projects.
  • Evidence of technical competence, self-motivation, ability to use own initiative, flexible, problem solving approach.
  • Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary engineering environment.
  • Ability to adapt and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Creates a work environment which promotes health, safety, and wellbeing.

 
 

Desirable

  • Experience across all stages of the project lifecycle.
  • APM accredited or working towards
  • HVDC or AC experience.
  • Track record of managing NEC contracts or similar contract arrangements.
  • Excellent IT skills particularly MS Excel/Word/Project and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to produce and review technical reports for clients, so attention to detail is paramount.
  • Interconnection/interconnector experience
