Mott MacDonald is seeking a motivated bridge engineer to join our team supporting bridge and asset management initiatives for public and private sector clients. This role focuses on bridge management systems, infrastructure data analysis, and transportation asset management planning across North America, with opportunities to collaborate with our global advisory teams.



This position primarily emphasizes bridge management and data-driven decision support rather than detailed structural design. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced engineers and receive mentorship while developing technical and consulting skills.

Work Arrangement

This position may be structured as hybrid, in-office, or remote depending on project needs and candidate location.

 

Travel Expectations

Travel is not expected frequently for this role; however, occasional travel may be required based on project needs (e.g., client meetings, workshops, or periodic site/field visits). Anticipated travel is typically minimal and will vary depending on assignment.



Role Responsibilities:

 

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Support bridge management system (BMS) implementations and asset management projects
  • Assist with bridge inventory management, preservation planning, and infrastructure data analysis
  • Work under the guidance of senior engineers while progressively developing independent problem-solving skills
  • Contribute to Transportation Asset Management Plans (TAMPs), risk and resiliency assessments, and strategic investment analyses
  • Coordinate with bridge inspectors, software vendors, and internal team members to support project delivery
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, meeting notes, and action items
  • Help incorporate safety, sustainability, resiliency, and equity considerations into asset management workflows
  • Participate in team meetings and support business development efforts as needed.

 

Candidate Qualifications:

 

We invite applications from candidates with the following experience:

 

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in bridge engineering, asset management, inspection, or related civil engineering work
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
  • Familiarity with National Bridge Inventory (NBI) data, AASHTO bridge element concepts, or bridge inspection practices is preferred
  • Strong Excel skills; exposure to Python programming or data analysis tools is a plus but not required
  • Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or spatial data is a plus
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or progress toward PE licensure preferred
  • Excellent written, communication, and teamwork skills
