We are seeking a skilled Construction Inspector to support the delivery of complex water and wastewater conveyance projects, with a focus on jack and bore trenchless installation methods. This role will involve field inspection, quality assurance, and contractor coordination across multiple infrastructure sites in the State of Virginia.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site inspection for the construction of pipelines, pump stations, and trenchless installations including jack and bore and microtunneling
  • Monitor contractor activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and environmental regulations
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and submittals
  • Document daily construction activities, including labor, equipment, materials, and progress
  • Perform and evaluate field tests (e.g., compaction, hydrostatic, pressure testing)
  • Coordinate with contractors, utility agencies, and internal engineering teams to resolve field issues
  • Maintain accurate records including daily reports, change orders, and redline drawings
  • Support constructability reviews and contribute to quality control and assurance processes

 

Candidate Specifications

  • Diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in construction or civil engineering preferred in combination with accumulated years of experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in construction inspection, with a focus on water/wastewater conveyance and trenchless methods
  • Hands-on experience with jack and bore, microtunneling, or HDD installations
  • Familiarity with applicable codes and standards (e.g., ASTM, AWWA, OSHA)
  • Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and travel to project sites
  • Preferred Certifications
    • NICET Level II or higher in Construction or Water/Wastewater Systems
    • OSHA 10/30 Certification
    • Confined Space Entry Training
    • First Aid/CPR Certification
