Our Auckland Buildings team delivers electrical engineering solutions across a diverse portfolio of projects, including commercial offices, education facilities, healthcare, residential developments, transport hubs, civic buildings and mixed-use developments. We are growing and looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our collaborative and multidisciplinary team.
This is an opportunity to build your technical capability, work alongside experienced engineers and contribute to projects that make a real difference across Aotearoa New Zealand.
The opportunity
As an Electrical Engineer, you will support the planning, design and delivery of building services projects across all project stages, from concept development through to detailed design and construction support.
You will work closely with electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, structural and digital specialists, gaining valuable experience while developing strong client and project delivery skills.
What you will do
- Deliver electrical building services designs for a range of projects and sectors.
- Prepare calculations, reports, specifications and design documentation.
- Support the design of power, lighting, communications, security and associated electrical systems.
- Coordinate with architects, contractors, clients and other engineering disciplines.
- Assist with site inspections, construction phase support and commissioning activities.
- Contribute to achieving high-quality technical outcomes while meeting programme and budget requirements.
- Apply digital engineering tools and modern design approaches to improve project delivery.
- Support sustainability initiatives, energy-efficient design solutions and low-carbon outcomes.
- Continue developing professionally towards Chartered Engineer status where applicable.
About you
We're looking for someone who is technically capable, curious and keen to grow their career in building services consulting.
You will ideally have:
- A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Around 2 to 5 years' experience in electrical engineering, ideally within building services or a consulting environment.
- Experience with the design of building electrical systems such as power, lighting and communications.
- Exposure to industry software such as Revit, AutoCAD, Dialux or similar design tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams.
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn from experienced professionals.
- An understanding of New Zealand standards and building industry practices, or the ability to develop this quickly.
