Senior Civil Engineer – Pavements

Our Auckland‑based Transport and Civil Infrastructure team delivers pavement and roading solutions across major infrastructure programmes. We work closely with transport authorities, local councils, and delivery partners to provide practical, high‑quality pavement design and advice across the full asset lifecycle.

 

The role – what you’ll do

 

As a Senior Civil Engineer specialising in pavements, you’ll play a key role in the design, assessment, and delivery of pavement solutions across transport and infrastructure projects in Auckland.

 

You will:

  • Lead and deliver pavement design for roading and transport infrastructure projects
  • Undertake pavement assessments, investigations, and rehabilitation design
  • Prepare and review pavement reports, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
  • Apply relevant standards and guidelines (e.g. Austroads, NZTA/Waka Kotahi)
  • Support delivery of pavement components within larger multidisciplinary projects
  • Provide construction support, including design responses and technical advice
  • Mentor and support graduate and intermediate engineers
  • Work closely with clients, contractors, and project teams throughout delivery
  • Apply quality, safety, and risk management principles in all aspects of your work

 

Projects may include:

  • State highway and local road upgrades
  • Pavement renewals and asset improvement programmes
  • Urban transport corridors and active mode infrastructure
  • Complex pavement rehabilitation and strengthening works

 

This role is based in Auckland.

About you

You’re an experienced civil engineer with a strong focus on pavement engineering, who enjoys applying technical expertise to real‑world transport challenges.

 

You’ll bring:

  • A degree in Civil Engineering
  • Solid experience in pavement design and assessment
  • Experience with pavement rehabilitation and renewal projects
  • Familiarity with relevant pavement design standards and guidance
  • Consultancy experience (preferred)
  • Confidence delivering technical packages and working within project teams
  • Clear communication skills and a collaborative mindset

Working towards Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status is encouraged and supported.
