We are looking for a Financial Accountant to join our APNA Financial Accounting team in Bangkok. Working with colleagues across the region and our Shared Service Centre, you will support accurate accounting, timely reporting and effective financial governance for Thailand and other countries in Asia.

About the role
As a Financial Accountant, you will manage core accounting activities, deliver statutory and Group reporting, coordinate audit and tax requirements, and maintain a strong control environment. You will also help simplify processes and support finance projects and system improvements.
What will you do?
Accounting Operations
- Review and oversee day-to-day accounting activities for Thailand including bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management and provide financial accounting support across other APNA entities assigned by Financial Accounting Manager, Southeast Asia.
- Manage month-end and year-end closing activities, including account reconciliations and adjusting entries.
- Ensure monthly balance sheet accounts are reviewed and certified in Trintech on time.
- Maintain accurate accounting records in accordance with applicable accounting standards and Mott MacDonald Group policies and procedures.
Financial Reporting
- Prepare and analyse annual financial statements, including the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement, in accordance with statutory reporting requirements.
- Prepare and submit accurate, high-quality quarterly consolidation reports to Group Finance within required deadlines.
Intercompany
- Review intercompany transactions and balances and coordinate with the Intercompany Accountant on monthly settlements while considering relevant tax implications.
Auditing
- Manage internal and external audits, including coordinating the timely provision of supporting documentation and responses to auditor queries.
- Address audit findings, implement improvements to financial processes and controls, and ensure all audit-related actions are completed within statutory deadlines.
Taxation
- Prepare and issue withholding tax (WHT) certificates to vendors, as well as tax invoices and receipts to clients.
- Prepare and submit withholding tax (WHT) and value-added tax (VAT) returns through the relevant government tax portal.
- Coordinate with the Group Tax team to complete statutory filings and ensure applicable tax payments are settled on time.
- Provide accurate financial information to support the preparation of transfer pricing documentation.
- Support responses to tax queries and audits relating to withholding tax (WHT), value-added tax (VAT), and corporate income tax (CIT).
Financial Controls
- Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets, prevent fraud, and ensure financial reporting accuracy.
- Complete and sign off the annual Financial Control Matrix.
Insurance
- Manage the renewal of insurance policies covering property, plant, and equipment.
Compliance
- Maintain current knowledge of accounting regulations and ensure the company complies with all applicable standards and requirements.
Stakeholder Communication
- Present clear financial information and insights to financial and non-financial stakeholders, including country managers and senior leaders.
Projects and Process Improvement
- Contribute to ad hoc financial accounting projects, system implementations, and process improvement initiatives.
What we're looking for
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. Professional qualifications such as CA, CPA, ACCA, or equivalent are preferred. Candidates working towards a professional qualification will also be considered.
- At least 4 years of experience in financial accounting and taxation.
- Previous experience in an audit firm would be an advantage.
Technical Skills
- Good understanding of financial accounting principles, statutory requirements, and taxation regulations.
- Experience using ERP and financial systems, such as SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and recommend practical solutions
- Comfortable learning new systems and processes and adapting to changing business needs.
