About the business unit
The Energy unit delivers services to clients globally across several sectors including hydropower, nuclear, waste, renewable generation and transmission & distribution networks. Together we provide integrated engineering and project management services across the project lifecycle – from concept and design to construction and operations, to decommissioning or repowering and life extension. Together with our clients, we’re helping to deliver the energy transition globally.

 

Overview of the role

The civil team in the energy unit is looking for a survey coordinator to coordinate and manage survey activities for energy projects, ensuring accurate and timely data collection. Key duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to:

Collaborate with project teams to integrate survey data into project designs and plans

Ensure survey output complies with industry standards and project requirements

Provide technical support and guidance to survey teams

Monitor and report on survey progress and any issues that arise

Adapt to new processes and technologies as needed to improve project outcomes

Conduct Risk Assessments and complete method statements and review and check risk management documents and method statements provided by the survey contractor.

 

Candidate specification

Risk Assessment and Method Statement Review: Familiarity with reviewing and enforcing safety protocols, risk assessments, and standard operating procedures in high-risk environments.

Attention to Detail and Organisation: Proven ability to manage logistics, maintain accurate records, and ensure operational precision under pressure.

Technical Proficiency: Comfortable using digital tools and systems for data collection, analysis, and reporting—skills that can be transferred to survey software and data analysis platforms.

Clear Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills developed through working with diverse teams, often across ranks and disciplines.

Teamwork and Independence: Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, often in challenging or unfamiliar environments.

Adaptability and Flexibility: Experienced in responding to rapidly changing priorities and operational demands.

Problem Solving and Critical Thinking: Skilled in assessing complex situations, identifying solutions, and making sound decisions in time-sensitive scenarios.

Confidentiality and Integrity: Trusted with sensitive information and committed to maintaining confidentiality and professional standards.

 

Desirable Criteria

Experience with Substations or Similar Infrastructure: Any experience working with or around critical infrastructure, such as military installations or power systems, is advantageous.

Survey Implementation Experience: Experience leading or supporting field-based operations, including the use of non-intrusive methods (e.g., remote sensing, surveillance, or technical reconnaissance) is highly relevant.

Relevant Qualifications: A degree or certification in civil engineering is beneficial, but equivalent military training and experience in engineering, construction, or logistics is also valued.

Site Safety and Survey Management: Training and experience in managing site safety, including the creation and auditing of Risk Assessments and Method Statements, particularly for non-intrusive or ground-based investigations.
