Your Opportunity 

Due to strong growth and an exciting pipeline of projects, Mott MacDonald's Transport team has an exciting opportunity for a Principal Engineer (Design Management) in the Brisbane office. You will be joining a diverse and passionate team with a proven track record delivering major projects across Australia.  With a focus on creating safe and climate resilient infrastructure that benefits the economy, society and the environment,  you will have the opportunity to: 

  • Act as Package Manager or Area Design Manager on major infrastructure projects, ensuring technical compliance, quality, and effective multi-disciplinary coordination.
  • Develop innovative solutions for complex client challenges, shaping medium to large-scale infrastructure projects locally and nationally.
  • Manage projects primarily in the rail transport sector, covering all phases from concept and planning through detailed design and delivery.
  • Oversee project governance, ensuring timely, high-quality deliverables within budget, and champion health, safety, and wellbeing through safety-in-design processes.
  • Support Project Managers in achieving commercial success, build strong client relationships, and identify new opportunities in the rail market.
  • Implement digital tools and solutions to enhance project efficiency and delivery.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to building capability within the transport team.
  • Perform engineering tasks as an RPEQ, including planning, design, documentation, and preparation of technical reports and drawings (Queensland Rail experience desirable).
  • Assist with project pursuits and tender submissions, particularly for rail-related opportunities.

 

About You:

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Civil Engineering or similar).
  • RPEQ, Chartered or demonstrate equivalent credentials suitable for application 
  • Demonstrated technical experience in rail design and civil engineering expertise
  • Experience with TMR or local government
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with public and private sector clients.
  • Strong project management skills with hands-on experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, valuing diversity and promoting inclusion
