The Opportunity

We are excited to offer a new opportunity for an Senior Engineering Geologist to join our growing team in Maroochydore, Sunshine Coast. This role will focus on key Queensland projects such as Borumba Pumped Hydro,  Sunshine coast Metro, The Wave, and other exciting projects that are putting our newest Mott MacDonald Australian office into the spotlight nationally.

As part of our Geotechnical practice, you will have to opportunity to work on projects across Australia, while also providing internal support services globally. You will work on tunnelling, foundations, retaining structures, slopes, and civil infrastructure projects, preparing specifications and reports, conducting site inspections, and managing client interfaces on progressively larger and more complex projects.

 

Your Role

In this varied and impactful role, your day-to-day activities will include:

  • Undertake and deliver geological and geotechnical investigations to inform the design and construction of major infrastructure projects  
  • Develop ground models in support of design 
  • Provide specialist advice on ground conditions, risks, and solutions 
  • Contribute to the preparation of high-quality geotechnical reports for a broad range of clients across the private sector and at all levels of government. 
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders, integrating geotechnical expertise into broader project delivery  
  • Work on large scale and high-profile civil infrastructure projects such as pumped hydro, water storage and transportation 

 

About You

Your experience would include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field 
  • Minimum of 5 years (Senior) / 10 years (Principal) of proven experience in geotechnical site investigation, geotechnical interpretation for civil infrastructure projects. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to interpret and model geological data effectively for infrastructure design and construction 
  • Proficiency in geotechnical investigation and interpretation software such as OpenGround, Leapfrog, GIS and CAD software  
  • Solid knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations, for geotechnical investigations and laboratory testing 
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development
