Mott MacDonald is looking for professionals to join our ever-expanding transportation team here in the Western New York area. We are currently looking for a Senior Construction Inspector III with experience in highway, bridge, and other transportation infrastructure construction projects. The successful candidate is required to understand construction industry standards and practices in the transportation sector and have experience working on relevant public agency projects.
The successful candidate will:

Have a proven and verifiable track record overseeing a team of inspectors on a diverse range of construction projects including but not limited to bridge, highway, culvert, and related transportation improvement projects.

Knowledgeable of OSHA regulations and safety procedures and practices related to transportation construction activities including Maintenance and Protection of Traffic requirements and guidelines.

Possess NICET Level III certification or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Have valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
Description of Duties:

Candidate will report to the Resident Engineer or Project Manager to monitor the daily construction activities, track and report quantities, assemble progress photos and videos as needed, and prepare daily work reports. Monitor safety and quality requirements of the construction and report status to the client on a regular basis.

Provide oversight and direction to less experienced construction inspection staff.

Maintain project records and coordinate communication between client, contractor, and other stakeholders as needed.

Interpret construction drawings and specifications on construction projects and make engineering-based decisions as needed.

Must be willing to work weekends and/or weeknights as necessary.

Ensures work is completed in accordance with contract documents and agency specifications.
Candidate Qualifications:
-
5+ years inspection experience related to highway and bridge construction including New York State Department of Transportation, New York State Thruway Authority, and/or locally-administered Federal-Aid projects.

Proficiency with computers and standard word processing and spreadsheet software applications.

Must be client service focused, embrace a safety culture, be a team player, and communicate well with multiple stakeholders.

NICET Level III Certification or equivalent education/experience.

Experience with NYSDOT Site Manager, Appia, and similar applications preferred.

Familiarity with NYSDOT Manual of Uniform Record Keeping (MURK) preferred. Coordinate activities on the project site and resolve problems related to the work.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Individual pay is determined based on several factors such as work location, education, experience, and unique skills.
The expected salary for this position is $69,000 - $84,000.
