Overview of the role 
Mott MacDonald’s landscape architecture and urban design team has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Landscape Architect to join its established landscape team in central Cambridge, to assist in delivering a range of landscape projects in the wider Cambridge area. Candidates will have the opportunity to work across the UK on a varied portfolio of future projects, working with our regional landscape offices and environmental teams in delivering projects of national significance.

 

Typical duties and responsibilities will include:
 

  • Assisting in the production of deliverables for landscape and urban design projects including conceptual drawings, contract drawings, schedules, specifications, contribution to written reports,  presentation material, visualisations and photomontages.
  • Undertaking site surveys, both as part of new design projects and in support of Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments (LVIA).
  • Assisting in the analysis, development and technical delivery of landscape, townscape and visual impact assessment as part of the wider Environmental Impact Assessment process.
  • Assisting in the design of Green Infrastructure projects, Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) inputs into projects, public realm design and the design and specification of hard and soft landscape schemes.

 

About you

The ideal candidate will have a passion for the environment, design and nature, with a high level of personal motivation alongside an innovative mindset.  In return they will be provided with excellent opportunities to develop their early career in landscape architecture and become a key member of an ever-expanding landscape team within the established environment division at Mott MacDonald. 

 

Essential criteria:

 

  • A passion for the environmental design with a strong emphasis on sustainability.
  • Degree in landscape architecture or an environment related discipline and the determination to undertake a formal landscape qualification.
  • Experience relevant to the role.
  • Ability to use initiative to undertake tasks diligently and independently with a methodical approach to problem solving.
  • Good written communication and attention to detail, applicable to delivering technical drawings, specifications and reports.
  • Good verbal communication skills, and comfortable working in multi-disciplinary environments.
  • Strong computer skills including the following software packages Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, Word, Excel, AutoCAD, Revit.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the UK and internationally if required. A driving licence is preferred but not essential.
  • Although this position is based in our Cambridge office the candidate should expect to be involved in projects across the UK, some of which may be managed by our landscape teams based in other Mott MacDonald UK offices.
