The Water Utilities Division is Mott MacDonald’s centre of excellence for responding to the UK and Ireland's water and wastewater challenges. The work we do is at the forefront of ensuring safe water supplies for future generations, preventing urban flooding, and improving the health of our rivers and coastal environments. Our multi-disciplinary teams provide a variety of services throughout the full project life cycle, from advisory services and feasibility studies to outline and detailed design. Having been appointed to Thames Water consultancy framework, we are looking for an Engineer Manager to lead the delivery of our non-infra programme of works. You would build on the good work done in establishing our framework and work with our technical discipline leads to ensure that our technical delivery performance meets the expectations of both our clients and our internal focus on technical excellence. You will work with our framework leadership and delivery teams so that we have: 

  • The right structure and people in place to meet the technical demands
  • The right systems and processes to deliver project outcomes in line with client and framework delivery processes, our internal business management system and our governance processes
  • A culture which drives innovation, challenges the norm and constantly seeks better and more efficient ways of delivering the solutions our clients need
  • A detailed understanding of our client’s business plan objectives and consequent technical challenges and to continuously engage with our client to maintain this understanding

 

The role is expected to progress and evolve in line with the framework requirements and the candidates’ own skills and development areas. Candidate specification

We are seeking a driven individual with a passion for finding solutions that meet environmental and cost drivers whilst delivering excellent customer outputs. 

 

Essential:

  • Chartered engineer with relevant technical degree
  • Track record of engineering technical leadership
  • Significant experience in development and delivery of feasibility and outline design treatment solutions within the UK water sector
  • Aptitude for innovation and driving efficiency
  • Experience in mentoring people and teams
  • Ability to support bids, fee proposals or offers of service
  • Strong communication skills with experience in effective collaboration across internal multi-disciplinary teams as well as Client teams
  • The ability to travel on a regular basis to Thames Water offices

 

Desirable:

  • Strong commercial awareness, delivering cost effective solutions within time and cost constraints
  • Understanding of key water sector treatment and sustainability needs
  • Understanding of drivers for water and wastewater treatment investment in England and Wales
  • Excellent technical report writing skills using concise English
