About the business unit
We help conceive, drive, and implement transport solutions for cities, regions, and asset owners/operators around the globe. From preparing the business case and advising on related issues - such as revenue, procurement, and environmental legislation - to delivering the completed infrastructure and helping maintain it. Our planning, engineering, environmental and management skills cover the whole project cycle. We play a major role in developing and delivering the Global Transport Sector Strategy.

Overview of the role
Our exciting role in the Aviation Advisory and Data Analytics/Forecasting team will mean that our new employee can demonstrate an ability to conduct forecasting, airport capacity optimisation and analysis to support tasks such as delivery of often complex multi-disciplinary projects and discussion with their stakeholders. You'll also be supporting the delivery of capacity analysis projects, modelling and detailing facility requirements and level of service outcomes, building and using airport simulation modelling tools and techniques whilst using your understanding of aviation market data sources to identify their respective uses and suitability for internal and external use.

As part of your role, you are likely to get involved with the following tasks:

  • Engaging with aviation clients, demonstrating your knowledge of the models you have developed in support of project delivery
  • Writing high quality technical and market related reports and proposals and supporting the presentation of project material to colleagues and clients
  • Further develop in-house built Forecasting and Capacity Optimisation Tools
  • Contribute to internal benchmarking databases across the aviation community to best serve our projects
  • Develop best practice user guides on all the analytical concepts and projects in which we work as a team
  • Support the engagement and management of subconsultants
  • Undertake client visits both domestically and abroad in support of project delivery and client relationship development and enhancement (where applicable)
  • Perform high level analytics in support of a range of advisory-related tasks detailing justifications in the data, discrepancies and possible enhancements to the data to ensure that work completed demonstrates solid thinking and problem solving skills

Candidate specification
What kind of person are we looking for?

A key element necessary to be successful in this role is the ability to deliver both forecasting and capacity optimisation / analysis – although we'd certainly encourage applications from candidates that may only have one of these two skills. You'll need to be able to travel and work overseas (sometimes at short notice) as required.

We are looking for candidates with the following characteristics:

  • An engaging and collaborative team member
  • A can-do attitude
  • The willingness to undertake tasks that may not always be the most exciting but are critical to the success of the projects
  • The ability to engage as part of a multi-disciplinary team and a diverse range of projects
  • A methodical and numerical approach to problem solving and critical thinking
  • An ability to explain the analysis to a non-technical audience
  • The ability to support tasks independently
  • An ability to work under a flexible (agile) working arrangement both in office and remotely
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, which allow you to confidently liaise with clients and colleagues
  • Excellent written communication and attention to detail, being able to oversee the development of excel models and PowerPoint presentations, supporting telling the story and connecting it back to the client’s challenge of us
  • Advanced user of Word, PowerPoint and Excel (Power BI desirable)
  • Demonstrated ability to pick up or investigate / research things such as coding and other analytics-related tasks to support project delivery

Experience with other software including AviPlan, Infraworks, Navisworks, Revit and/or 3D visualisation tools will be favourably considered.

UK Immigration

Mott MacDonald Ltd. are not currently offering sponsorship to candidates under the Skilled Worker visa route in the UK. This decision is as a consequence of the changes made to the Skilled Worker route by the UK Government in April 2024. We continue to welcome applications from candidates who are eligible for alternative immigration routes in the UK, that do not require sponsorship as a Skilled Worker now or in future.
