Job profile
The Group Finance Compliance and Governance Accountant is an important new role that will be responsible for informing and advising in the development of the Group’s financial compliance function.

 

Job description
We are looking for an experienced financial accountant with an interest in corporate governance and controls to join our Financial Compliance and Governance team based in Croydon. 
This role offers a fantastic opportunity to join the business and help build up the programme and contribute to the development of the Group’s Financial Compliance and Governance function.
As Group Finance Compliance and Governance Accountant you will report to the Group Finance Compliance and Governance Manager. Your key duties will include:
•    Summarising and communicating the requirements of future changes to UK Accounting Standards and the UK Corporate Governance code to the key stakeholders both within the team and the wider business. 
•    Assisting in the project for developing and delivering a programme to implement changes to meet the requirements identified as a result of the above, in particular any enhancements required to the Group’s processes or internal controls, liaising with other Group functions where required.
•    Providing technical guidance and mentoring to other members of the team and assisting in developing training material where required
•    Assisting in evaluating and implementing new systems/tools for monitoring and managing compliance with controls 
•    Reviewing, maintaining, and developing Group Directives/policies and Finance and Accounting manuals
•    Preparation of Statutory accounts for the closed UK DB Pension Scheme and review of monthly management accounts for the Scheme
•    Review of monthly pension contributions and related processes for the current UK DC pension scheme.
•    Assisting in ensuring appropriate controls are operated in relation to shareholder transactions and payments.
•    Assisting in reviewing reconciliation of subsidiary statutory accounts to the consolidation packs submitted for group consolidation purposes.

 

Candidate specification
Essential;
o    Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
o    Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
o    Able to produce clear and concise technical information and reports
o    Able to establish good working relationships with colleagues in other functions and work collaboratively
o    Able to work on own initiative
o    Strong leadership and influencing skills in relation to stakeholder management.
Desirable;
o    Internal/external audit experience
o    Good knowledge of internal controls and risks within main process areas
o    Project management experience
o    Knowledge of UK pensions legislation/requirements
o    Experience of using GRC (Governance Risk and Compliance) software
