Job Profile & Description:

 

About the role:

Mott MacDonald are looking for a BIM Designer to support the Infrastructure Utilities team on the delivery of ongoing/future projects across the Unit.

 

Key responsibilities and duties are listed, but not limited to, the below:

 

  • Develop, manage, and maintain high-quality BIM models, drawings, and design documentation for infrastructure utilities including water supply, sewerage, stormwater drainage, irrigation, power, telecommunications, street lighting, and gas networks.
  • Coordinate BIM models across utilities, civil, structural, and other disciplines, perform clash detection, resolve design conflicts, and ensure constructability throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure all BIM deliverables comply with the BIM Execution Plan (BEP), ISO 19650, Common Data Environment (CDE) requirements, client standards, and internal quality procedures.
  • Collaborate closely with Utility Engineers, Civil Engineers, BIM Coordinators, and Project Managers to support design development, technical coordination, and successful project delivery.
  • Perform model validation, quality assurance, and technical reviews to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of BIM models, utility layouts, and project documentation before submission.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior BIM professionals, promote BIM best practices, and support continuous improvement in modelling standards and digital delivery.
  • Contribute to the implementation of BIM technologies, automation tools, and digital engineering solutions to improve productivity, collaboration, and the successful delivery of infrastructure projects.
  • Support continuous improvement and digital ways of working, sharing knowledge and lessons learned.

Candidate Specification:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, with 11–16 years of proven experience in BIM modelling and coordination for infrastructure projects.
  • Expert proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D, Autodesk Map 3D, and Autodesk Navisworks, with strong knowledge of utility modelling, multidisciplinary BIM coordination, model federation, clash detection, and digital engineering workflows.
  • Thorough understanding of ISO 19650, BIM Execution Plans (BEP), Common Data Environment (CDE), Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), utility design standards, and infrastructure engineering practices.
  • Strong communication, and coordination, with experience mentoring junior BIM professionals, leading multidisciplinary coordination, and delivering complex infrastructure projects within programme and quality requirements.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and proactive professional with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of working independently, managing multiple priorities, and driving continuous improvement in BIM processes, utility coordination, and digital project delivery.
