Senior Principal Engineering Sciences
About the Role
- Formerly known as “Building Sciences”, Engineering Sciences brings together cross-sector specialist skills into one community. Engineering Sciences at Mott MacDonald includes specialist services such as acoustics, vibration, wind, facades, fire, sustainability, material science, computational modelling, architectural lighting and digital technology.
- The Engineering Sciences Leader is a highly influential role whose core responsibility is to develop this workstream for Mott MacDonald in the Middle East but at the same time connect to the global engineering sciences community. You will be a technical authority in one or more of the above disciplines but able to manage and understand all of them. We would expect you to contribute to the wider built environment team on projects and proposals but also be a work winner in your own right. You will be a respected authority with established client relationships in the region. You must be able to motivate and lead high performing teams and we do expect growth locally but also the ability / experience in delivering projects with teams outside the Middle East.
- In this role you will have line management responsibility and will be able to build a team at a sustainable pace, to support deliver our projects. You will be responsible for the bidding process of the services that fall under Engineer Sciences and run a P&L account.
- Technical excellence is a key factor in the success of the role. The Engineering Sciences Leader will be part of the Built Environment Sector Management team and will be involved in driving technical excellence in a way that supports our market strategy and work winning activities.
- This role comprises of activities such as commercial leadership, winning work, project management, team development whilst role modeling our cultures and behaviours. Depending on the skillset of the applicant, this role could also cover account leadership for selected sector clients.

Candidate Specification
- Demonstrable management experience within a consulting engineering practice
- Significant project delivery experience as Project Director or Senior Project Manager, including commercial, financial and technical control
- Extensive experience in the strategy and planning of Built Environment
- Extensive experience in the delivery (planning, construction and design) of Built Environment projects
- A track record in client-facing, business development and successful bidding
- Demonstrable experience in developing and fostering strategic relationships with client
- Motivational and management skills and an interest in mentoring and developing senior and intermediate staff
- Previous Middle East experience is preferred for the role as is KSA experience
