Senior Structural Engineer (Design)

Main Purpose of the Job:
The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience of working with and guiding project team in building structures projects, possessing a sound technical background, and will be working on various building structures including high-rise, mixed-use towers, residential and villa schemes etc. You will be expected to combine managerial competencies and technical responsibilities, promote a collaborative approach and inspire the team to deliver projects to quality, budget and timescales.
Key responsibilities and duties are listed, but not limited to, the below:
- Prepare designs, specifications, calculations, drawings and risk assessments for maintenance, refurbishment and new build schemes; obtain statutory approvals where needed.
- Provide project management and team leadership for the preparation of concept, scheme, and detailed design calculations and drawings for structural and multi-discipline projects.
- Maintain ownership of the structural engineering analysis and design
- Ability to inspect works carried out on site and monitor quality and compliance with design drawings.
- Be accountable for the timely production and delivery of reliable design solutions, reports, specifications and drawings.
- Ensure all design work is carried out in accordance with Company’s quality standard procedures.
- Provide effective task and resource management and monitor against agreed scope, programme and budget.
- Provide structural technical support and manage the technical accuracy of the project delivery.
- Be able to present technical aspects of a project and structural design approach to technical and non-technical team members/stakeholders.
- Maintaining a comprehensive knowledge and appreciation of current technical engineering codes and practices and taking a role in technical matters both at project and divisional level
Candidate Specification
- Bachelors’ Degree in Civil or Structural engineering; chartered status will have an added advantage
- Experience working in an international design consultancy.
- Experience in engineering design primarily in building structures and in roles of increasing responsibility and project complexity
- Prior experience in engineering design primarily in building structures and in roles of increasing responsibility and project complexity
- Demonstrable record of successfully designing and delivering building structures projects
- Experienced in using analytical/design software such as, Etabs, Safe, Staad, Robot, RAM Concept, Tekla Tedds
- Experienced in using BIM software such as BIM 360, ACC, Navisworks, Revit, and Blue Beam.
- Experienced in scripting and parametric software such as Rhino, Grasshopper, Dynamo will have an added advantage.
- Advanced level proficiency with all MS Office products, including Outlook; Word; Excel; and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrable experience of planning and monitoring project programmes, costs and resources ensuring delivery to time and budget
- Excellent knowledge of local regulations, professional and international codes, and standards such as ACI, ASCE, IBC, AISC, BS, Dubai Code, and ADIBC.
