Job Description:
About the Role
The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience of working with and guiding project team in building structures projects, possessing a sound technical background, and will be working on various building structures including concrete and steel structures etc.
You will be expected to combine managerial competencies and technical responsibilities, promote a collaborative approach and inspire the team to deliver projects to quality, budget and timescales.
Key responsibilities and duties are listed, but not limited to, the below:
- Ability to inspect works carried out on site and monitor quality and compliance with design drawings.
- Be accountable for the timely production and delivery of reliable solutions, reports, specifications and drawings
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with Company’s quality standard procedures
- Provide effective task and resource management and monitor against agreed scope, programme and budget
- Provide structural technical support and manage the technical accuracy of the project delivery
- Be able to present technical aspects of a project and structural design approach to technical and non-technical team members/stakeholders
- Maintaining a comprehensive knowledge and appreciation of current technical engineering codes and practices and taking a role in technical matters at project level
- Review shop/working drawings and material submittals for compliance with the projects guidelines
- Review and undertake verification work to ensure work is up to the standard of what has been agreed
- Respond to the contractor’s queries and review construction issue drawings
- Maintain the project’s administrative systems
- Report on environmental and safety issues arising ongoing work
- Coordinate between the design office, contractor and client.
- Ensuring all relevant staff are kept up to date on all matters and information is effectively shared
- Ensuring practices, policies, strategy and services represent the client’s best interests
- Commitment to self-learning / development
- Liaise with the contractor, the client and the client's project manager/resident engineer.
- Review and implementation and drawings for feasibilities and interfaces between project demands including project dependent, structure and related engineering
- Responsible for ensuring that the structural works are constructed in accordance with the contract requirements
- Check contractors’ submissions and respond to the contractor’s request for information
- Observe site safety procedures and actively monitor and report on contractor’s safety performance, raising non-conformance reports when required.

- Responsible for maintaining and enhancing Mott MacDonald’s reputation with the client structural lead and developing further long-term client relationships
Candidate Specification:
- Bachelors’ Degree in Civil or Structural engineering; chartered status will have an added advantage
- Prior experience in engineering design primarily in building structures and in roles of increasing responsibility and project complexity. Steel structures will have an added advantage.
- Demonstrable record of successfully designing and delivering building structures projects
- Demonstrable experience of planning and monitoring project programmes, costs and resources ensuring delivery to time and budget
- Experience of working on major construction programs will be an added advantage
- Experience of dealing / negotiating with the contractors
- Good communication skills, both written and spoken English
- Confident and proactive character
- Proven experience of taking lead in difficult situations
- Ability to work in a team
