Mott MacDonald is expanding its already well-developed GDOT project work in Atlanta, GA. Our goal for this position is to identify an established Senior Project Manager to serve as a technical excellence leader in our Atlanta area office. The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for leading the management and design of transportation projects in the Atlanta area. A Senior Project Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing project scope, schedule, and budget on transportation projects for GDOT, County DOTs, and municipal clients.


Responsibilities may include:

  • Oversight of all design activities on highway projects in adherence with the contract scope and schedule
  • Monitor labor budgets and schedules for assigned tasks/projects
  • Coordinate with discipline key task leaders and staff to ensure ongoing communications
  • Meet project deliverable schedules and budgets for assigned projects
  • Supporting marketing and business development initiatives including
  • Identification of key target clients and projects
  • Identify, develop, and maintain relationships with key target clients
  • Support the identification of key client RFPs and development of proposals in response to strategic client pursuits
  • Lead procurement activities including scope and fee development and negotiations with clients
  • Work collaboratively with the client to ensure the design team and subconsultants to deliver detailed design documents for preliminary, right-of-way, and construction plans
  • Oversee the developmental training and mentorship of the next generation of project managers
  • Must have the ability to work on multiple unique assignments simultaneously
     

Candidate Specifications:

  • B.S. degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program
  • 10+ years’ experience in transportation or civil engineering with a demonstrated experience in roadway and/or highway engineering
  • Technical background and experience that demonstrates the ability to serve as a Project Manager role on transportation projects with GDOT, County DOTs and Municipal DOT agencies across Georgia
  • Georgia PE license or ability to obtain within 6 months is required
  • GSWCC Level II Designer Certification is required
  • GDOT PDP Certification or ability to obtain is required
  • Extensive experience in the GDOT PDP Process and GDOT design standards and policies is required
  • Demonstrative experience in GDOT procurement processes is desirable
  • Familiarity with Microsoft products is a plus
  • Experience with CAD particularly MicroStation and OpenRoads is desirable
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaborative team building skills are a must
  • This position does require occasional travel up to 25% and requires visits to client office locations and project sites
  • A valid driver's license and clean driving record is required for this position
