About the business unit  
The Energy unit delivers services to clients globally across several sectors including hydropower, nuclear, waste, renewable generation and transmission & distribution networks. Together we provide integrated engineering and project management services across the project lifecycle – from concept and design to construction and operations, to decommissioning or repowering and life extension. Together with our clients, we’re helping to deliver the energy transition globally. 

 

Overview of role

Owing to continued growth and high demand for our services, we are looking for a Renewables Portfolio Manager – Italy for our renewable energy staff in Italy along with the strategic leadership of the consultancy team. 

The Renewables Portfolio Manager – Italy is ideally an engineer or other technically educated professional. A dynamic person, with entrepreneur and business management spirit, and willingness to develop the renewables business in Italy, engaging with clients, winning new projects/contracts and creating long standing relationships.

The Renewables Portfolio Manager – Italy shall have guidance and charisma, a person capable of motivating the team and attracting further staff to join our team. This person shall have good knowledge of the renewable energy industry and the market in Italy, main stakeholders, potential customers, competitors, etc

By joining our team, you will have access to the largest, most exciting and innovative projects worldwide. The work is extremely varied as will be your role. You will be working with a strong renewable energy team and other discipline professionals delivering prestigious schemes.

As a renewable professional within Mott MacDonald you will provide technical support to a wide variety of stakeholders including developers, original equipment manufacturers, regulators and financing institutions. The role is varied in its nature and will include working on a range of international renewable projects providing:

  • Owner's engineering, construction supervision and design services
  • Technical advisory/due diligence for lenders, developers and investors
  • Concept and FEED design engineering.
  • Feasibility studies.

 

Candidate Specification:

Essential Criteria

  • Degree level qualifications in engineering or similar technical subject.
  • Dynamic person, with entrepreneur and business management spirit, and motivation to develop the renewables business in Italy, engaging with clients, winning new projects/contracts and creating long standing relationships.
  • Good knowledge of the renewable energy industry and the market in Italy, main stakeholders, potential customers, etc
  • Management and charisma, a person capable of motivating the team and attracting further staff to join our team. Demonstrable understanding of people motivation and situational guidance styles.
  • Experience in people or portfolio management in a consultancy environment, and in a client facing role.
  • Excellent inter-personal and communication skills.
  • Evidence of technical capabilities, self-motivation, ability to use own initiative, flexible and / or problem solving approach.
  • Proven working experience on renewables energy projects, either wind or solar, ideally as Owner's Engineer, otherwise as Technical Advisor / Lenders TA.
  • Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary engineering environment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly & concisely in English, both verbally & written and ability to explain technical issues to non-engineers, including Clients.
