About the business unit
The Energy unit delivers services to clients globally across several sectors including hydropower, nuclear, waste, renewable generation and transmission & distribution networks. Together we provide integrated engineering and project management services across the project lifecycle – from concept and design to construction and operations, to decommissioning or repowering and life extension. Together with our clients, we’re helping to deliver the energy transition globally.
Overview of role
Our Energy Unit provides Civil and Structural expertise across various projects including Transmission, Thermal, Renewable and Nuclear. Due to continued growth, we are looking for civil engineers at various levels ideally with experience in Highway projects.
You’ll carry out work on Energy projects, fulfilling tasks including
- Collaboration with civil engineers, urban planners, and transportation experts to create road designs that meet functional requirements.
- Development of detailed plans for new roads, road extensions, or modifications to existing roadways.
- Consideration of factors such as traffic flow, safety, environmental impact, and aesthetics.
- Determining the alignment (horizontal and vertical) of roads, including curves, slopes, and intersections.
- Optimizing road geometry to ensure smooth traffic flow, minimizing accidents, and accommodating pedestrians and cyclists.
- Selection of appropriate materials for road construction (e.g., asphalt, concrete).
- Specification of construction details, cross-sections, and pavement thickness.
- Assessment of environmental impact and incorporation of sustainable practices.
- Consideration of drainage, landscaping, and noise reduction.
- Proficiency in using design software such as AutoCAD, Bentley Inroads, or similar tools.
- Knowledge on current EU highway design standards, safety guidelines, and legal requirements.
- Experience with road design projects.
Candidate Specification
- Proficiency in Road Design Software: Skilled in using AutoCAD, Bentley Inroads, or similar tools.
- Experience in Road Design Projects: Demonstrated experience in developing detailed plans for new roads, extensions, or modifications.
- Knowledge of EU Standards: Familiar with current EU highway design standards, safety guidelines, and legal requirements.
- Environmental and Safety Considerations: Ability to assess environmental impact, incorporate sustainable practices, and optimize road geometry for safety.
- Collaboration Skills: Experience working with civil engineers, urban planners, and transportation experts to create functional road designs
- Degree in civil or structural Engineering
