Our Digital Technology & Systems team (DTS) is part of TMS, focused on delivering software, services, and digital solutions for our clients in the highways market and beyond. We work with central, regional and local government organisations, in addition to arm’s length transportation asset owners and private sector organisations. We help them ensure transportation is safe, efficient, accessible and sustainable. We specialise in a variety of disciplines across the Intelligent Transportation Sector, including software development, data engineering, operational technology and connected and autonomous mobility. With the growth in demand for Cybersecurity across the business and our client base, we are expanding our existing capabilities with a new Cybersecurity Specialist. You will be based out of either our Glasgow, Birmingham, Bristol, Cambridge, Liverpool, Manchester or Southampton offices.
As a Cybersecurity Specialist you will work as part of our teams assessing and advising on security measures, identifying vulnerabilities and design improvements and recommendations on client projects.This role involves working closely with clients to develop and implement effective security strategies, cybersecurity due diligence, supply chain assessment and ensuring compliance with industry standards. This may include project work, and benefit from past experience, in one or more of:
- GRC (Governance, risk and compliance)
- Technical areas e.g. Security Architecture, IACS
- Operational area: SOC, Incident Response, Forensics.
Some aspects of this job may require occasional work outside normal office hours or on UK clients' sites, so flexibility is important.
Role responsibilities
- Develop, review and implement cybersecurity policies, protocols and procedures, such as IEC 62443 or ISO27001, including working in IACS domains.
- Provide expert advice on cybersecurity measures and best practices across OT and IT projects.
- Understand client requirements and analyse specifications.
- Conduct reviews and audits to identify vulnerabilities in existing systems or proposed designs.
- Collaborate with company and client IT teams to design and implement security solutions.
- Monitor, consult and advise on security incidents and breaches.
- Stay updated on the latest security trends, threats and technologies.
- Prepare inputs to reports, bid proposals and documentation on cybersecurity assessments and recommendations.
- Train and educate staff on security standards, awareness and protocols.
Candidate Specification
As a Cybersecurity Specialist you will be able to work autonomously at times, sometimes within cross-domain engineering teams, but always with close links to a technology team and be supported by management and technical colleagues from across Technology & Systems to ensure tasks are completed and delivered to a high standard within our established processes and procedures. With a constantly evolving portfolio of diverse and unique projects, this role will provide the successful candidate the opportunity to work across multiple teams for a variety of clients.
You will work within a structured project environment which promotes the delivery of quality services to our clients and provides a framework for your continued growth. You will have considerable autonomy but also the opportunity to be mentored by senior technical team members, who will support you in meeting challenging goals and industry training. The role will include working directly with internal and external clients, remotely and occasionally on-site, and will provide the opportunity to grow the workstream and contribute innovation into our solutions.
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science or a closely related field.
- Proven experience as a Cybersecurity Specialist for public or private sector organisation or similar role.
- In-depth knowledge of security frameworks and regulations such as ISO 27001, NIST CSF, CE+, IEC62443, NIS, NIS2, Cloud Security Principles and GDPR.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Desirable
- Experience with security tools and technologies such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, and SIEM.
- Experience working with Operational Technology (OT)
- Professional registrations or certifications such as CiiSEC, CISSP, GICSP, or related would be advantageous.
