Overview of role
 

We are looking for an HR Shared Services Team Lead on a fixed term basis, to guide and manage members within our fast-paced HR Shared Services (HRSS) team and support the continuous development of the HR Shared Services Centre. 


This role will help oversee an efficient and effective service and support the team in delivering a customer focused service, that meets SLA’s, and works on continuous improvement to ensure the aims of the business are achieved. 


The HRSS team are based across two sites – Manchester and Glasgow, and the successful candidate will be expected to travel on business between sites at least once per month and dependant on business needs. 


As this is a Team Lead role, it is expected that you will be present in the Glasgow office 3 days per week. Our office is located within the city centre and is easily accessible by car and train. When visiting the Manchester office, you will also find this is a short walk from train stations.

 

Key responsibilities

 

  • Assisting the HRSS Manager to continuously develop the HRSS Centre adhering to compliance 
  • Overseeing the customer focussed administrative and operational functions that meets SLA’s and KPI’s 
  • Championing the work of the team to ensure efficiency and quality in the delivery of the HRSSC
  • Overseeing requests that are logged and checking work of the team to ensure it is to the expected standard
  • Providing training to the team on systems, policies and procedures as required 
  • Effectively dealing with any queries escalated to your attention, and ensuring any issues are dealt with in a professional manner
  • Assisting all customers in a positive, friendly and professional manner, to ensure all enquiries are dealt with in an efficient and effective manner
  • Supporting all staff designated to your responsibility, to achieve the targets and performance standards expected of the team 
  • Motivating your team through regular 1:1’s and identifying training needs by setting clearly defined objectives
  • Regularly seeking feedback from stakeholders on the performance and productivity of the HRSSC to ensure that standards are being met and issues dealt with
  • Undertaking other duties, training, or hours of work as may be reasonably required, and which are consistent with the levels of responsibility of this role

 

Candidate Specification

 

Essential skills and experience

 

  • Experience of managing a team and able to demonstrate achievement of performance and efficiencies through coaching and people development
  • Experience of working in a customer focused environment, ideally working to SLA’s
  • Good level understanding of HR matters, process and procedure together with knowledge of statutory requirements 
  • Can do, proactive and positive attitude with the ability to motivate self
  • Excellent attention to detail and able to analyse data and people information
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build effective, collaborative relationships with the HRSS team and wider colleagues across the business
  • Good organisation and prioritisation skills with the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities
  • Comply with Data Protection and General Data Protections Regulations (GDPR) and ensure the security of employee information in accordance with legislation and best practice
  • Good IT skills, including proficiency in HR systems and Microsoft Office

 

Desirable

 

  • Experience of processing Subject Access Requests
  • Experience of working in an HR Shared Services environment 
  • CIPD qualification
