About the business unit
The Buildings Unit (BLD) has a major presence in Mott MacDonald's regional offices throughout the UK and mainland Europe, providing a wide range of diverse and transferable cross-sector skills across five key Sectors; Advisory, Built Environment, Energy, Transportation and Water. We also provide local services to customers and technical leadership to the rest of the Group in these sectors.
About the role
Mott MacDonald is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to work in our Istanbul office. The successful candidate will enjoy the variety of work we are able to offer and also benefit from the positive training support that we can provide.
As a Structural Engineer you will:
- Represent Mott MacDonald on site and at meetings
- Undertaking site visits to review, monitor and asses existing structures in terms of their structural reliabilities and stabilities
- Identify structural risks and reporting the findings
- Modelling, analysis, and design of the various types of structures
- Performing calculations and preparing reports through design review stages
- Checking and reviewing construction drawings
- Ensure material specifications, workmanship and quality control for all works are in compliance with the contract requirement and regulations
- Providing professional support to the project team, helping to ensure high quality service delivery and a co-ordinated response to clients
- Liaise and coordinate with contractors’ representatives, consultants, employers, representatives, and relevant authorities for the smooth execution of the works
- Coordinating forward planning
- Working in compliance with essential regulatory and contractual health and safety obligations
What we would like to see from you:
- Degree in Civil Engineering is essential
- MSc in Structural and/or Earthquake Engineering is preferable
- Knowledge and experience in common structural analysis software
- Experience in inspection and assessment of existing structures
- Knowledge of local and major international design codes is a must
- Experience of working closely with other functions across project delivery team, to provide efficient and effective data transfer
- Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with clients and colleagues
- Good IT skills with the ability to adapt to new systems readily and use them effectively to improve efficiency
- Excellent analytical skills combined with a proactive approach to service delivery
