Bid Manager

Playing a key role in the Development function of our Infrastructure, Development and Resilience Division, you will work as part of a team of bid and marketing professionals to support Account Leaders and Portfolio Managers in their pursuit of key strategic prospects.
Building relationships across technical disciplines, resource managers and leadership teams, you will offer expert advice to ensure the output of high quality winning bids, from early capture activities through to final bid production.
In this role, you will work as a key part of the WIN team to drive, lead and assist in the production of best in class bid quality submissions, bringing together the right technical, management and leadership skills to deliver client needs and desires, both those articulated and those understood through client intelligence. You will:
Work with the nominated Bid Principals to drive best practice in the implementation of our STEP capture and convince processes and requirements.
Work with key technical contributors to support development of a winning solution and production of a winning submission, in compliance with client’s requirements.
You will use your facilitation and people skills to strengthen bid governance, planning and capability, working as required with legal, commercial and security experts. You will apply best practice to craft appropriately pitched technical input into compliant submissions that hit the evaluation criteria, address client hot buttons and showcase our win themes. You will review and learn from client feedback and internal lessons learnt reviews to drive continual improvement in bid production.
You will actively engage with our professional excellence practices and early career professionals to identify and delivery upskilling activities across the unit, liaising with your peers across the organisation to share and seek out best practice to support the ambitions of Mott MacDonald globally.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Working collaboratively with Sector Leads in pre-positioning for key prospects
- Guiding Bid Principals/Manager on best practice application of our in-house WIN processes, including development of compelling bid strategies and supporting throughout the management of bid production through its life cycle
- Working with technical specialists to support development of a winning technical solution to the client’s needs, based on continual improvement including capturing of benefits, added value and innovation.
- Engaging specialist core functions to ensure fully compliant internal governance to effectively manage commercial, security and reputational risk.
- Taking part in bid reviews, listening to and responding to feedback, ensuring all feedback is understood and acted upon.
- Identifying and facilitating delivery of technical and administrative support where necessary
- Facilitate communication during and after bids are submitted both internally and externally
- Sharing best practice across the MM group to enhance quality submissions.
- Taking note of industry developments and evolving client drivers to align bid responses with client / project strategic goals and objectives
- Contributing to a knowledge bank of bid material, evidence and responses to facilitate strategic development of quality responses
- Compliance with Group and Unit directives and governance within delegated authorities
- Compliance with group systems and the Quality, Environmental and Safety system
- Acting as a champion of and acts credibly in accordance with the organisation’s values (PRIDE)
You will offer a degree standard education or equivalent experience
We are looking for a strong combination of the following:
- Ideally with demonstrable experience in winning high value international development opportunities globally with an emphasis on FCDO, USAID , EBRD, ADB etc across a number of sectors
- Excellent report and bid/proposal writing skills- with a specific focus on attention to detail
- Excellent written, verbal, presentational and facilitation skills
- Ability to prioritise, delegate and able to work under pressure
- Ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships with colleagues and potential clients, with a particular emphasis focus on sharing best practice.
- Ability to demonstrate a flexible approach to work which may involve flexible working hours
- An appreciation of the international Aid market would be advantageous
Desirable requirements:
- Post graduate professional qualification i.e. APMP, MSc or equivalent.
- Experience of leading bid management and response processes
