We are seeking a Senior Technical Advisor to lead and deliver complex programs across the West Coast. This role suits a senior consulting professional with a technical or engineering background who can shape strategy, simplify complex issues, and guide multi-party teams to pragmatic, defensible decisions. The successful candidate will typically bring experience across the built environment. California experience is preferred but not essential.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead Technical Advisory commissions through all project stage (concept, design, procurement, delivery, and operations).
- Define client outcomes and establish technical governance frameworks that maintain the golden thread of technical intent.
- Lead development of feasibility studies and business cases to help clients assess technical, financial, and operational options.
- Plan and chair multi-disciplinary design reviews; ensure deliverables are complete, coordinated, and compliant.
- Develop and verify technical requirements, acceptance criteria, and performance measures.
- Challenge designs for buildability, maintainability, and lifecycle value; integrate safety-in-design and residual-risk management.
- Direct schedule, risk, and change control processes; produce high-quality evidence-based reports.
- Advise on technical scope and acceptance criteria; align deliverables with Design-Build (DB), Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR), and Design-Bid-Build (DBB) routes.
- Develop and implement governance frameworks and decision-support processes for major programs.
- Manage commercial performance, change control, and compliance with BMS/PPCM governance.
- Shape pursuit strategies and author technical narratives for proposals.
- Support regional growth initiatives, including staff development, account strategy, and service integration with other business units.
- Develop key account relationships and identify emerging opportunities.
- Contribute to regional thought leadership and capability development.
- Mentor junior staff, providing technical governance and career guidance.
Candidate Specification
Essential:
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree or professional registration preferred.
- 10+ years leading complex multi-disciplinary projects or programs.
- Proven ability to crystallize complex issues into clear options and recommendations for senior stakeholders.
- Proficient in schedule, risk, and change control.
- Strong contract administration experience; familiarity with DB/CMAR/DBB, with advantage for PDB/CMGC.
- Skilled communicator with ability to lead client workshops and boards.
Desirable
- Professional credentials such as: CCM, PMP, DBIA, PE, RA.
- Experience establishing technical governance frameworks and evaluation methodologies.
- Proven record of winning and delivering advisory assignments in the public or private sector.

The expected salary for this position is $142k - $174k
Individual pay is determined based on several factors such as work location, education, experience, and unique skills.
