About the business unit
Mott MacDonald’s Advisory and Programme Delivery (APD) unit delivers both project, programme & commercial management (PPCM) services and advisory solutions across the built environment, defence, energy, water, environmental, transportation, health and care sectors.
We deliver tailored solutions that directly address our clients’ key challenges, combining our world-leading project expertise with unrivalled programme delivery capabilities and advisory services.
APD delivers services to projects ranging in scale and complexity up to £20bn, through the technical disciplines of programme management, project management, project controls, scheduling, cost management, estimating, infrastructure finance, management consulting, digital consulting and education, health and care management.
Overview of the role
As a Project Manager, you will demonstrate a passion for working collaboratively with client and delivery teams to successfully deliver complex data centre construction projects safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.
You will be responsible for overseeing construction activities on-site, coordinating stakeholders, managing contractor performance, and ensuring compliance with project requirements throughout the delivery lifecycle.
What you will contribute to the team:
- Provide day-to-day construction project management and site leadership across data centre projects
- Monitor project progress against programme, budget and quality objectives
- Review contractor methodologies, risk assessments and construction execution plans
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards
- Coordinate with client representatives, contractors, consultants and suppliers to resolve project issues
- Support project reporting, change management and project controls processes
- Identify project risks and contribute to mitigation planning
- Foster collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Promote a strong safety culture across all project activities
Candidate specification
Essential:
- Proven experience managing construction projects, ideally within mission-critical facilities or data centre environments
- Experience coordinating contractors and multidisciplinary project teams
- Working knowledge of construction management methodologies and project delivery processes
- Familiarity with construction contracts, procurement and change management
- Experience using project management and construction software tools
- Strong understanding of health and safety regulations applicable within Spain and the European Union
Qualifications:
- Degree qualified in Construction Management, Engineering, Project Management or a related discipline
- Professional construction or project management qualifications desirable
- Health & Safety training relevant to the construction industry
Skills & Compentencies:
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced project environments
- Commercial awareness and problem-solving capability
- Strong organisational and reporting skills
- Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Languages:
- Native-level Spanish
- Fluent English (written and spoken)
Additional Requirements:
- Willingness to travel within Spain and occasionally across Europe as required by project needs
- Valid Spanish or EU driving licence
