Overview of role

 

Mott MacDonald is a global management and development consultancy adding value to projects for public and private clients worldwide. Our specialist Stakeholder Engagement Team works with clients to help them deliver major infrastructure projects across the UK. We engage and consult with technical and community stakeholders so that we can maximise benefits of infrastructure development. We work on a wide range of projects, applying our skills across many sectors including transport, water and energy particularly. Our team is passionate about promoting equality, diversity and inclusion and we work with and on behalf of groups which are often under-represented.

 

Due to a number of new client projects, we are looking for principal and associate consultants to join our team. We are looking for people who are interested in understanding how infrastructure interacts with local communities. Successful candidates will be involved in managing impact assessments, evidence reviews, policy research, stakeholder engagement, consultation and reporting. You will line manage project teams as well as delivering assignments for our existing client base, liaise with new clients, and be involved in winning new work to grow the business. 

 

Candidate specification

 

You will have both a personal and professional passion for social outcomes, social science, and research. You will have an excellent track record at delivering projects in a variety of sectors for a range of public and private sector clients.You will be able to demonstrate the following skills, competencies and experience:

 

  • Degree qualified (2:1 or above) in social science, humanities or a related discipline, or in transport planning, town planning, regeneration or a related discipline
  • Project management / line management
  • Report writing and delivering presentations
  • Engagement and consultation with stakeholder and/or community groups
  • Designing and undertaking qualitative and quantitative research
  • Understanding of equality, diversity and accessibility
  • Knowledge of UK infrastructure sectors
  • Knowledge of UK planning regimes
  • Strong track record of successful infrastructure project development

 

The following experience and sector knowledge would be desirable but is not essential:

  • Masters qualified in a relevant discipline
  • Undertaking impact assessments, analysis, and appraisal
  • Writing and winning bids for new work
  • Environmental impact assessment
  • Gender analysis and inclusion
  • Knowledge of the transport, water and energy sectors
