Your Opportunity 

We are searching for a Senior Drainage Engineer to join our Transport team in Melbourne to support the multiple projects that are currently being delivered and for future projects we will be working on.  

 

 

 In this role you will be responsible for: 

 

  • Developing and reviewing drainage design solutions for roads, highways, bridges, and associated transport infrastructure. 

  • Supporting the design of stormwater management systems, water-sensitive urban design (WSUD) initiatives, culverts, detention systems, and associated drainage assets. 

  • Preparing drainage design documentation, technical reports, specifications, calculations, and construction drawings. 

  • Providing technical input across the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance phases of projects. 

  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and stakeholders to deliver integrated and efficient infrastructure outcomes. 

  • Contributing to proposals, business cases, tenders, and technical submissions. 

  • Supporting the delivery of safe, sustainable, and cost-effective drainage solutions that improve network resilience, manage flood risk, and enhance environmental outcomes. 

  • Maintaining knowledge of relevant industry standards, client requirements, and best-practice drainage design methodologies. 

 

About You  

  • Degree in Civil Engineering and suitable for obtaining membership of Engineers Australia. 

  • 2-7  years’ experience in drainage design, civil infrastructure, orstormwater engineering projects. 

  • Experience in stormwater drainage design for roads, highways, transport, or municipal infrastructure projects. 

  • Understanding of hydrologic and hydraulic principles, stormwater management, and water-sensitive urban design (WSUD). 

  • Knowledge of relevant Australian standards,Austroadsguidelines, and state road authority requirements. 

  • Identifiesand applies sound engineering judgement todeterminepriorities, solve technical problems, and organise workload effectively. 

  • Requires limited supervision, collaborates internally and externally with project teams, clients, and stakeholders to achieve project outcomes. 

  • Demonstrates a clear sense of accountability for their own work, including quality assurance andtimelydelivery of project outputs. 

  • Commitment to safety, sustainability, and continuous professional development.
