Energy – Nuclear Decommissioning

Mott MacDonald is a trusted partner in the global energy sector, with deep expertise across nuclear, renewables, hydro, thermal, and electricity and gas. A key area of focus is nuclear decommissioning, where we support clients in safely managing the end-of-life phase of nuclear facilities, ensuring environmental protection, regulatory compliance, and value optimisation.

Our teams work with major public and private sector organisations including nuclear site operators, regulatory bodies, and government agencies. We provide support across the full lifecycle of decommissioning programmes—covering strategy development, cost and risk management, waste management, site remediation, and infrastructure transformation.

We are actively contributing to some of the UK’s most complex and long-term decommissioning programmes, helping to deliver safe, efficient, and sustainable outcomes while supporting the transition to a low-carbon future.

Overview of the role

Owing to the continued growth of our energy portfolio, particularly in nuclear decommissioning, we have a unique opportunity for Quantity Surveyors to join our fast-growing team in Whitehaven and Warrington.

This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in some of the most technically complex, highly regulated, and strategically important projects in the UK. You will play a key role in supporting nuclear decommissioning programmes, helping to manage costs, mitigate risks, and ensure effective commercial delivery across large-scale, multi-year projects.

We are looking to attract the finest talent to be part of this journey as we support key clients across a broad portfolio of nuclear decommissioning and wider energy programmes.

With extensive experience in the energy sector, our Advisory and Programme Delivery teams deliver projects ranging from nuclear decommissioning and site remediation to new energy infrastructure and low-carbon transition initiatives.
