Global Delivery Services Centre (GDSC) is a high-impact business unit within Mott MacDonald, dedicated to enhancing project delivery across our global operations.

Role Overview:   

As a Planner, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of water and wastewater projects across the UK. These initiatives contribute to environmental sustainability and community resilience, including flood defence improvements, treatment facility upgrades, and nature-based solutions that enhance biodiversity. 

 

Key Responsibilities:  

  • 5 - 7 years (with Minimum 4 Years in core Planning) of EPC contracting experience with a strong planning background and Civil engineering knowledge. 

  • Develop and maintain Baseline programmes in Primavera P6 and MSP, ensuring operational teams have the required level of detail and contract compliance. 

  • Create Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and define project activities, durations, and dependencies. 

  • Strong knowledge of Earned Value Management Techniques. 

  • Familiarity with NEC and/or FIDIC contracts will be an added advantage. 

  • Identify critical path activities and analyze schedule risks and delays. 

  • Prepare look-ahead schedules, recovery plans, and mitigation strategies. 

  • Monitor project progress, update schedules, and produce performance reports. 

  • Generate periodic progress reports, dashboards, S-curves, and KPI metrics. 

  • Coordinate with project stakeholders, including engineering, procurement, construction, and management teams. 

 

  • Lead the “Plan for Stage” process, including delivery plan development, constraint analysis, sequencing, and look-ahead meetings to ensure consistency across projects. 

  • Ensure compliance with project planning procedures, standards, and client requirements. 

 

  • Report key milestones, support timely delivery, and identify opportunities for programme improvement. 

 Candidate Specification: 

  • Proficient in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project (MSP), with a strong interest in 4D planning and construction schedule visualization. 

  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills. 

  • Experience of water/wastewater treatment projects will have an added advantage. 

 

Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management.  

  • Strong understanding of civil engineering principles and practices is a must.
