Mott MacDonald is seeking a dynamic, highly motivated, and experienced Civil Engineer in our New Orleans, LA office. From the moment you join us, you will be immersed in a team of exceptional engineers, project managers, and specialists ready to support you in your career. You will be assigned to a team working on a variety of civil engineering projects focused on transportation, site development, drainage, or water resources. We work to deliver sustainable outcomes for our clients and the communities they serve across the country.

With guidance from our team of professional engineers, you will be providing engineering services for major and minor projects spanning the Gulf Coast, including developing creative engineering solutions for civil infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist with the preparation of civil engineering plans, reports, and specifications for roadway and stormwater/drainage design project.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs, CAD drafting, and assist with hydrologic/hydraulic modeling
  • Support field construction activities including site inspections, documentation, and contractor coordination.
  • Assist in adherence to relevant codes and design standards for the creation of geometric design plans, alignments, profiles, cross sections, paving and striping layouts, as well as MOT plans.
  • Actively participating in project, client, and team meetings.
  • Reviewing, preparing, and modifying design plans.
  • Actively participating in our ‘Early Careers Professional’ Network

 

We invite applications from candidates with the following experience:

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited university
  • Minimum 2+ years experience performing civil engineering duties
  • Individuals must have an Engineer-Intern (EI) Certification or have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam
  • Relevant experiences, such as your field of study, past work experience, internships, co-op, volunteering, or relevant association memberships that drive your interest to design a variety of civil engineering project types.
  • Familiarity with design software, such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, and GIS preferred
  • Experience using Procore and MS Project, preferred.
  • Comfortable working in both office and field environments
  • Methodical approach to problem-solving to undertake tasks efficiently and independently
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, which allow you to confidently liaise with clients and team members
  • Written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail, with an ability to demonstrate accurate technical drawings
