This key leadership position is focused on the development, growth and increased market share of work with our platinum client. This is anincredibly visible and prestigious position, internally and externally. A Client Director at Mott MacDonald is responsible for building and managingstrategic relationships with senior stakeholders to ensure trust, alignment, and long-term partnership.
Key Responsibilities:
• Strategic Relationships: Build and maintain trusted partnerships with senior client stakeholders, ensuring alignment with their needs and priorities.
• Growth: Drive business development by identifying new opportunities, strengthening the client pipeline, and positioning Mott MacDonald for long-term success.
• Capture & Delivery: Lead bid processes and support project delivery teams, ensuring technical excellence, commercial robustness, and client satisfaction.
• Client Outcomes: Oversee commercial performance, risk management, and quality delivery across client projects.
• Account Leadership: Promote strong account management and collaborative engagement at all levels of the MTA, fostering deep and lasting relationships.
• Ethics & Integrity: Uphold Mott MacDonald’s values by modeling ethical leadership, ensuring zero tolerance for unacceptable behaviors, and effectively managing conflicts of interest.
• Market Visibility: Represent Mott MacDonald across the NYC market, demonstrating leadership, raising our profile with the MTA, and fostering collaboration across the region.
• Talent Development: Mentor, support, and grow strategically minded professionals, building a robust pipeline of talent within the business.
• Industry Presence: Act as a visible leader in the industry by participating in networking opportunities, speaking at events, and contributing thought leadership.
About You
• Experience: Significant background in account management, client engagement, and senior stakeholder relationships, ideally with major clients or complex infrastructure/programs, particularly with the MTA.
• Business Development: Proven track record of identifying, developing, and converting opportunities, including leading successful bids and expanding client accounts.
• Commercial Acumen: Strong financial management skills, including responsibility for commercial outcomes, contract negotiation, risk management, and project profitability.
• Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage resources, and foster collaboration across business units.
• Relationship Building: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and sustain long-term client relationships built on trust and mutual value.
• Strategic Thinking: Ability to understand client objectives and position Mott MacDonald’s capabilities to meet their needs through innovation and thought leadership.
• Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage senior executives, deliver compelling presentations, and influence stakeholders.
• Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of the NYC market, including current trends, regulations, and client challenges.
• Professional Qualifications: Relevant degrees and professional licensure in engineering, project management, or business (preferred).
• Integrity & Ethics: Strong commitment to ethical conduct, with the ability to proactively manage conflicts of interest and represent Mott MacDonald’s values.

At Mott MacDonald, we provide a comprehensive benefit package that includes 401k, medical, dental and vision insurance, short-term/long-term disability, paid holidays, PTO, parental leave and company paid life insurance.
The expected salary for this position is $185,000 - $227,000.
Individual pay is determined based on several factors such as work location, education, experience, and unique skills.
