This key leadership position is dedicated to the development, growth, and expansion of Mott MacDonald’s partnership with our platinum client—the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. Highly visible both internally and externally, this role is central to strengthening our market position and reputation. As a Client Director, you will be responsible for building and managing strategic relationships with senior stakeholders, ensuring trust, alignment, and long-term collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
• Strategic Relationships: Build and maintain trusted partnerships with senior client stakeholders, ensuring alignment with their priorities and long-term objectives.
• Growth: Drive business development by identifying new opportunities, expanding the client pipeline, and positioning Mott MacDonald for sustainable success.
• Capture & Delivery: Lead bid processes and support project delivery teams, ensuring technical excellence, commercial robustness, and client satisfaction.
• Client Outcomes: Oversee commercial performance, manage risks, and ensure the delivery of high-quality outcomes across client projects.
• Account Leadership: Promote collaborative engagement at all levels of the Port Authority, strengthening Mott MacDonald’s role as a trusted partner.
• Ethics & Integrity: Exemplify ethical leadership by upholding company values, enforcing zero tolerance for unacceptable behaviors, and proactively managing conflicts of interest.
• Market Visibility: Actively represent Mott MacDonald across the NY/NJ market, raising our profile with the Port Authority and fostering collaboration across the region.
• Talent Development: Mentor, support, and develop strategically minded professionals, building a strong pipeline of talent in this sector.
• Industry Presence: Serve as a visible leader in the industry by participating in networking events, speaking engagements, and contributing thought leadership.
Qualifications
• Experience: Extensive background in account management, client engagement, and senior stakeholder relationships, ideally with major clients or complex infrastructure programs, particularly with the Port Authority.
• Business Development: Proven success in identifying, developing, and converting business opportunities, with a track record of leading successful bids and growing client accounts.
• Commercial Acumen: Strong financial management skills, including oversight of commercial outcomes, contract negotiation, risk management, and profitability.
• Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage resources, and foster collaboration across business units.
• Relationship Building: Exceptional interpersonal skills for developing and sustaining long-term client relationships built on trust and mutual value.
• Strategic Thinking: Ability to understand client objectives and position Mott MacDonald’s expertise to meet their needs through innovation and thought leadership.
• Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage senior executives, deliver compelling presentations, and influence stakeholders.
• Industry Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the NY/NJ market, with current knowledge of trends, regulations, and client challenges.
• Professional Qualifications: Relevant degrees and professional licensure in engineering, project management, or business (preferred).
• Integrity & Ethics: Strong commitment to ethical behavior, with the ability to proactively manage conflicts of interest and represent Mott MacDonald’s values.

At Mott MacDonald, we provide a comprehensive benefit package that includes 401k, medical, dental and vision insurance, short-term/long-term disability, paid holidays, PTO, parental leave and company paid life insurance.
The expected salary for this position is $185,000 - $227,000.
Individual pay is determined based on several factors such as work location, education, experience, and unique skills.
