We are seeking a Senior Wastewater Engineer to strengthen our regional water team across New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts. This role will focus primarily on municipal wastewater treatment, with additional responsibility for collection and conveyance projects.
The successful candidate will serve as a senior technical contributor and project delivery lead, working alongside regional wastewater leadership to plan, design and deliver new facilities and upgrades from initial studies through construction.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead wastewater treatment planning, process evaluations and facility designs.
- Develop design criteria, calculations, hydraulic profiles, mass balances, equipment sizing and facility layouts.
- Design and evaluate headworks, primary and biological treatment, nutrient removal, clarification, disinfection, biosolids management, chemical feed systems and ancillary systems.
- Support sanitary sewer, force main, pump station, inflow and infiltration, and wet-weather management projects.
- Prepare and review technical reports, drawings, specifications, cost estimates and bid documents.
- Manage technical tasks, project scope, schedules, budgets and multidisciplinary coordination.
- Provide construction-phase support, including submittal reviews, RFIs, field coordination, commissioning and operational troubleshooting.
- Mentor junior staff and provide technical quality assurance.
- Build client relationships and support proposals, interviews and regional business development.
We invite application from candidates with the following experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil, environmental, chemical or related engineering.
- Typically, 10–15 years of progressively responsible wastewater engineering experience.
- Strong municipal wastewater treatment process design experience.
- Working knowledge of wastewater collection, conveyance and pumping systems.
- Experience delivering projects from planning and design through construction.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and communicate effectively with clients and treatment plant operators.
- Professional Engineer license in at least one US jurisdiction, with the ability to obtain licensure in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts.
- Ability to travel to clients and project sites throughout the region.

- Advanced treatment, membranes, intensification processes, water reuse or industrial wastewater.
- Plant commissioning, start-up and operational troubleshooting.
- Public-sector wastewater projects in New York, New Jersey or Pennsylvania.
- Proposal development, client management and staff mentoring.

Individual pay is determined based on several factors such as work location, education, experience, and unique skills.
