Mott MacDonald’s support services are the driving force behind our organisation enabling us to run efficiently and effectively. The team works collaboratively to offer specialist advice, best practice and technology to all areas of our business specifically designed for our global reach. 

 

Overview of role

 

We are a global team of IT professionals - the project delivery team supports IT projects across all Mott MacDonald geographies. The IT Project Manager acts as the key interface between the project team, project board and stakeholders from the business and IT while managing the scope, budget, timeline, resource, quality and benefits of the projects.  

 

This includes shaping the project plan with technical leads, tracking and adjusting plans to ensure smooth delivery, managing and escalating project risks, managing resources (including third-party contractors or consultants), project documentation, and project plans in order to successfully deliver IT projects. 

 

The IT Project Manager works closely with IT Project Management Team Leads, the IT PMO, IT Resource Management, business analysis, technical teams and business stakeholders. The role plays a pivotal part in ensuring that our Project Systems, Group Systems, IT security, Desktop Services, Infrastructure and IT Operations projects get delivered on time and deliver value for our business. 

 

This position is based in our Newcastle office. We work a hybrid model with 3 days per week in the Newcastle office

 

The role is responsible for the end-to-end project management of IT projects, including: 

 

  • Defining and tracking of project scope, budget, timeline, resources, quality and benefits 
  • Project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and control, closure 
  • Assignment of work packages to project resources and monitoring of deliverables 
  • Effective communication with the project team, project board, IT team and business teams 
  • Motivating project teams and ensuring work is delivered as per the plan 
  • Working with technical and business teams to build the project charter, project plan, communication plan and other project assets 
  • Following IT PMO and project delivery governance standards, ensuring that project documents are current and change control is followed 
  • Monitoring the quality of deliverables and ensuring that they are in line with expected scope 

 

Candidate Specification 


Qualifications & Education 

 

  • University degree or college diploma related to technology, project management, engineering or relevant industry experience 
  • Project Management certification: Prince2 (Practitioner) or PMP 
  • Scaled Agile, Scrum Alliance or other agile certification (desirable) 
  • Other relevant professional IT Certifications (desirable) 
     

Knowledge and Experience 

 

  • Significant end-to-end project management experience 
  • Experience managing projects and resources from different countries or having worked in a matrix environment 
  • Experience with productivity tools such as Microsoft Teams and Office 365 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once or to manage projects within a program, and able to manage projects using waterfall, agile and hybrid approaches 
  • Good working knowledge of project management software such as MS Project, Planview Project Place, JIRA, DevOps or other 
  • Previous experience working in a corporate IT team (desirable)
