About the business unit

The Buildings Unit (BLD) has a major presence in Mott MacDonald's regional offices throughout the UK and mainland Europe, providing a wide range of diverse and transferable cross-sector skills across five key Sectors; Advisory, Built Environment, Energy, Transportation and Water. We also provide local services to customers and technical leadership to the rest of the Group in these sectors.

 

Overview of the role

 

Stakeholder management:

  • A HR business partner approach working closely with the Country Director and Resource Manager as well as with the wider Senior Management Team, France for a client group of circa 80 employees
  • Dual reporting line into the Country Director and HR Manager for Buildings Unit  
  • Building strong and sustainable relationships using effective communication skills and professional advice, being visible, accessible, and remaining delivery focussed 
  • Trusted advisor and local people expert to senior leaders supporting with operational and strategic people activities
  • Line management
  • Responsible for the line management and development of 2 members of the HR community in France 
  • Provide direction, supervision and guidance of operational activities whilst supporting implementation of strategic initiatives 

 
Advisory and operational activities:

  • Track and implement French regulation obligations. Such as: 2-year interview, profit sharing mechanism, funded social activities, disabled workers etc and ensure compliance in a timely manner 
  • Main point of contact for all people and HR activities  
  • Fully experienced in employment relations with confidence to ensure all HR matters are handled promptly, fairly and consistently in line with local legal and company requirements
  • Provide robust advice on all HR issues, policies, terms and conditions of employment and employment / immigration legislation
  • Work with the Group Reward team to regularly review salaries against the internal and external benchmark data and make recommendations to the senior stakeholders 
  • Providing support to the Compensation Manager for all Mott MacDonald reward cycles in France; salary review, bonus, shares with analysis 
  • Evaluate and support the bi-annual senior promotions and appointments process in France
  • With the support of the HR Manager, design, where appropriate, and lead Learning and Development activities in accordance with French regulation 
  • Adapt the UK Group HR processes to a French context 
  • Accountable for employee data and people analytics providing accurate data to ensure reporting and supporting business decisions and regular auditing and review. Regular reporting such as headcount, turnover, training budget spend, turnover and identify trends and solutions
  • Implement a robust induction process 
  • Oversee the payroll process  
  • Implement and oversee the usage of an absence system that is compliant with French regulation

 

Strategic HR:

  • Work with the HR Senior Leadership Team to define the people strategy for France in consideration of the wider people strategy for the Buildings and Cities unit 
  • Lead and drive the delivery of the people strategy at country level, including employee engagement, talent management and succession planning 
  • Working with the HR senior leadership team to proactively deliver our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion strategy and wellbeing strategy at country level
  • Ensure talent management remains the focal point, responsible for the development/evaluation of succession plans, talent mapping and performance management

 

Compliance:

  • Comply with Data Protection and General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and ensure the security of employee information in accordance with legislation and best practice
  • Comply with local employment legislation and related legislations including social security etc
  • Identify and respond to compliance matters in line with HR procedures and ensure that all operational aspects of compliance reporting are addressed


Candidate Specification

 

Essential:

  • Relevant HR qualification 
  • Extensive experience of HR operational activities 
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills and an ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders and colleagues
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Fluent English and French language 
  • Strong organisational skills and exhibit excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent knowledge of HR practices and policies as well as local employment legislation and obligations
  • Approachable and collaborative style
  • Excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills

 

Desired:

  • Experience of working within a consultancy, management and engineering sector

 

Please note, this position is part-time, requiring availability for only three days a week.
