Mott MacDonald is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Project Engineer to support and lead municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects in our growing Pensacola, FL office. You will work closely with dedicated water sector professionals on planning, design, and delivery of complex municipal systems including water pumping, transmission and distribution, wastewater collection, and pumping facilities.
As a seasoned engineer, you will drive technical excellence, lead multi‑disciplinary teams, support key client accounts, and contribute to the continued expansion of our water practice in Florida.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as project engineer or project manager for multiple municipal water/wastewater infrastructure projects.
- Lead and oversee the preparation, review, and modification of reports, specifications, plans, studies, and engineering designs.
- Independently evaluate and apply standard and advanced engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using sound judgment to develop innovative solutions.
- Prepare preconstruction cost estimates and engineer’s estimates of probable cost.
- Manage and support construction phase activities, including RFIs, submittal review, design clarifications, and field coordination.
- Lead and coordinate permitting efforts with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies.
- Facilitate and participate in meetings with clients, contractors, and key project stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the client account leader in project development, proposal preparation, and pursuit strategies.
We invite applications from candidates with the following experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Florida, or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- 8+ years (recommended for senior‑level) of relevant experience in municipal water, wastewater, reclaimed water, stormwater, and pipeline projects spanning planning, design, permitting, and construction.
- Demonstrated experience managing clients and leading production teams for large water and wastewater projects.

Individual pay is determined based on several factors such as work location, education, experience, and unique skills.
