Mott MacDonald Bentley are recruiting for a Head of Engineering to join the Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA).

 

The 330km Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) Project by Anglian Water is under construction and will be completed during AMP8. Beyond this we have a further 260km of water transfer pipelines and associated infrastructure to be delivered in AMP8.

 

What will you be doing as our new Head of Engineering? 

As our new Head of Engineering, you will be accountable for all aspects of the design and management of the Engineering function, including managing resources both internal and external along with engineering outputs and quality.

 

The Head of Engineering is a key leadership role within the Strategic Pipeline Alliance project and is accountable for all design activities.  The role forms part of the SPA Senior Leadership Team (SLT). visible, and you will be required to be an active and approachable leader to both within the Alliance and the Engineering team.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain the Engineering Strategy and resource needs to ensure appropriate resources are in place to meet the SPA delivery requirements, including utilisation of partner Global Design resources

  • Ensure your teams have the required capacity, capability, and competency to meet the needs of the business.

  • Work with the Programme Area Managers, Senior Project Managers and Design Managers to develop and maintain an up-to-date resource and delivery schedule is available.

  • Enable and lead a collaborative culture within the engineering team to ensure consistent quality outputs

  • Be an active part of the SPA Senior Leadership Team, lead a collaborative culture within the engineering team, and manage the key technical stakeholders. 

  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement in Health & Safety (H&S), ensuring consistent H&S standards are maintained.

This job might be for you if you are:

  • Qualified to degree level in an engineering subject

  • Experienced in a similar technical role, with experience on managing multi-disciplinary design teams and projects

  • Able to manage situations proactively, proving leadership, guiding on priorities, and has the ability to think and plan ahead.

  • Able to demonstrate a high sense of personal responsibility through commitment to results and caring about people

  • Able to train, coach and mentor others; is open to a challenge and accepts and provides it to drive continuous improvement.

Mott MacDonald Bentley is a joint venture business, established in 1999 between civil engineering contractor JN Bentley and global management consultancy, Mott MacDonald.

Mott MacDonald Bentley offers fully integrated design and build services to its clients, combining the contracting expertise of JN Bentley and the design specialisms of Mott MacDonald.

This role is employed by Mott MacDonald but will involve working across the joint venture business, both with Mott MacDonald and JN Bentley colleagues.
