Mott MacDonald’s transportation and infrastructure teams work on some of the biggest and most challenging projects across the US. We’ve completed and are currently involved in a whole host of amazing solutions to complex projects, incorporating our values of sustainability and improving communities. Mott MacDonald is hiring a Mechanical Inspector to be based in Portland, Oregon.
Responsibilities:
- Respond to and attend Inspection Requests submitted by the contractor and recommend/take appropriate action where necessary.
- Provide technical assistance to resolve any mechanical issues that may arise
- Ensure effective co-ordination between various disciplines
- Prepare surveillance and non-conformance reports (NCR) if required
- Maintain reports for all site activities including progress reports, ensuring are readily available for inspection
- Apply and implement quality assurance and quality control procedures for the site
- Monitor work and assess the HSE and environmental issues, ensuring compliance with contractual specifications and HSE and risk assessments
- Report any work executed by the contractor that is not compliant with approved specifications; inform stakeholders where necessary
- Review submitted shop drawings against contract drawings and specifications; ensure local codes and statutory requirements are adhered to and international best practice is adopted
- Conduct site inspections when required by the Construction Manager and Project Director
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Previous inspector and/or resident engineering experience working with public agencies, preference mechanical operations and/or plumbing.
- Minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience
- Experience with new construction and/or improvements
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills including technical report writing.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Primavera P-6, and Procore, desirable
- Military experience or Contractor experience considered

The expected salary for this position is $110,000- $135,000
Individual pay is determined based on several factors such as work location, education, experience, and unique skills.
