Mott MacDonald is hiring an entry-level Civil CAD designer. This person will work alongside other talented individuals to support project teams in Raleigh, NC, on proposals, planning, startup, and delivery tasks. The project delivery support ensures the best tools and systems framework are configured and deployed based on project requirements and company goals for innovation. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Design projects for transportation projects that include traffic signals, intelligent transportation systems, maintenance of traffic, roadway, and bridge design. 
  • Collaborate with engineers and design team to advance and complete a variety of project types. 
  • Develop grading plans, alignments, profiles, cross sections, paving layouts, striping layouts, traffic control plans, traffic signal plans, and ITS plans. 
  • Produce preliminary and final drawings in accordance with company and client standards.
  • Calculate quantities for earthwork, asphalt, concrete, drainage structures, pipe, etc. 
  • Produce spreadsheets that summarize quantities and estimated unit costs. 

 

We invite applications from candidates with the following qualifications:

  • 0-5 years’ experience as a civil designer.
  • Technical degree in CADD drafting a plus, at least high school degree.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation and OpenRoads.
  • Familiar with NCDOT standards.
  • Experience in various infrastructure project types: Earthwork, Drainage, Highways/Road Design, Rail, Tunnels, Water and Waste Water Treatment, Pipelines, etc.Experience using Data Management Systems: Bentley, ProjectWise, MS SharePoint, Autodesk.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and prioritize tasks in a logical order.
  • Understanding of developing and supporting civil engineering drawings.
  • Experience with file conversion between multiple digital environments.
  • Strong verbal communication and time management skills.
