We are seeking a highly experienced Project Engineer with over 20 years of expertise in roadway design, highway infrastructure, and design-build project delivery, particularly within the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) framework. This role will lead and support complex transportation projects from concept through final submittals, ensuring compliance with state and federal standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead roadway design efforts for major highway and infrastructure projects.
  • Oversee and coordinate design-build submittals, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including structural, environmental, and traffic engineers.
  • Review and approve design documents, plans, and specifications.
  • Serve as a technical expert on NCDOT standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and designers.
  • Interface with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Ensure quality control and assurance throughout the project lifecycle.

 

We invite applications from candidates with the following experience:

  • 20+ years of experience in roadway design and highway engineering.
  • Extensive experience with NCDOT design-build projects.
  • Strong understanding of NCDOT submittal processes and standards.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects and lead design teams.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in North Carolina preferred.
  • Experience with public sector transportation projects, preferred.
